Are people over 65 generally smarter?

We can't know yet. Everyone over 65 now is a boomer, and their generation is generally uneducated, unquestioning, and lack critical thinking skills. Gen-X and millennials might not be so simpleminded at that age since we grew up with the internet and were exposed to much more.

I served half a tour, before getting discharged honorably. Back in Nam I had a few friends, Wade, Dickie and Ramon. I never joined to be a general or a medal winner but I truly believed I was fighting Chinese expansion.

That was a crock of shit. We were ambushed one day in the jungle. Ramon didn't look all that heroic when he died. He just looked surprised. Dickie was shot, screaming get me on the Huey, and I even took a bullet (it hit the locket that held a picture of my twin sister, I didn't die. ) but ended up discharged. My whole family was hit by a drunk driver on the way to the airport and died.

You have to know that experience in life outranks everything and that's just half the battle.

Abstract

Dysgenic fertility means that there is a negative correlation between intelligence and number of children. Its presence during the
last century has been demonstrated in several countries. We show here that there is dysgenic fertility in the world population
quantified by a correlation of − 0.73 between IQ and fertility across nations. It is estimated that the effect of this has been a decline
in the world's genotypic IQ of 0.86 IQ points for the years 1950–2000. A further decline of 1.28 IQ points in the world's genotypic
IQ is projected for the years 2000–2050. In the period 1950–2000 this decline has been compensated for by a rise in phenotypic
intelligence known as the Flynn Effect, but recent studies in four economically developed countries have found that this has now
ceased or gone into reverse. It seems probable that this “negative Flynn Effect” will spread to economically developing countries
and the whole world will move into a period of declining genotypic and phenotypic intelligence. It is possible that “the new
eugenics” of biotechnology may evolve to counteract dysgenic fertility

Assuming this thesis holds, it doesn't necessarily mean those over 65 are smart by any reasonable or rational measure, it just means that those coming behind them are -- on average -- even dumber. Might not look that way in your everyday life given how IQs tend to cluster much more nowadays than in the past, but think of your last visit to the DMV or someplace else where all strata of society congregate.

Another way to look at it...think of the stereotype of Queefara cranking out four babies with three daddies by 23 and Mackenzie Paige Whitebread having one autism baby at 43. Will this sample raise or lower the IQ average IQ in the US?

Too bad citing Richard Lynn in any context these days immediately gets you tagged as a $permfront mouthbreather. Heritability of intelligence used to be widely acknowledged, but not nowadays.

Being over 65, the answer is no. Maybe wiser in some things, but also older people also develop bad habits that won't break. Take a look at some of the 50 year old lolcows here, And yes, my generation did stupid shit equal to Tide Pod challenges (putting model glue in bags and sniffing it for example), drugs, crime, etc.

In my experience many of them are more considerate than many millennials or zoomers are, but at the same time are stuck thinking various economic markets still work like they did in the 90's and before. Hence the whole issue of them thinking millennials can't afford anything because they don't know what real work is or are just lazy.
