I had a serious boner for Morgan Webb.
I think more than a few people did when they hit puberty around that time.

I used to watch X-Play when G4 was still Tech TV. It's a shame to see Adam Sessler devolve into an ultra-left-leaning twitter banshee.

I remember TechTV being an amazing channel that was then scooped up by the unimaginative corporation channel "G4", under the guise of merging "G4TechTV" before just becoming G4 again and ruining all the great shows they had absorbed through the merger.

I truly hope they're dead now.

slight :offtopic: but there is still a similar channel in the UK about videogames and tech called Ginx. i've watched bits of it here and there but is it any good overall or should i avoid it judging by today's atmosphere in gaming?

your wish has been granted, the channel's been gone for a while now

I might have been a little young to really remember the early stuff
I do remember Code Monkeys though. I'm lowkey embarrassed that's the only show I really knew.

I actually enjoyed X-Play when I first saw it, but I will admit that the novelty is probably what appealed to me. This was before the explosion of online video game related shows. Given the inherent nature of video games (players are usually tech savvy enough to not have to rely on appointment viewing), a cable network dedicated to them was never long for this world.

I do remember they use to have a anime block that showed more obscure anime like Gad Guard, Boogiepop Phantom, R.O.D. the series, ect. Found some pretty good more “out there” anime that way.

I didn't have G4 at all growing up. I was barely aware of it besides the fact it was the channel that hosted the Spaceballs animated series. However, I did stumble across this interesting moment in this Splinter Cell retrospective where they completely bungle one of the levels in Chaos Theory and pass it off as a legit walkthrough.

I liked some stuff on American G4, but I don’t have much to say that others haven’t already. However, I got a few things. First, Ninja Warrior was the shit, I still keep up with Japanese Ninja Warrior (SASUKE).

Second, I tried keeping up with G4 Canada a bit. It was not hard, the channel was 90% EP daily and Reviews on the Run reruns in 2015. And EP daily (formerly Electric Playground) was getting episodes uploaded to Youtube by then. However, both shows were taken off the channel by the end of the year (just my fucking luck), and the Thank You video from Victor Lucas somewhat felt like the channel was dead, and he knew it. I will post it later, but his tone was...grim. There was no attempt from G4 Canada to find a proper replacement for EP Daily or Reviews on the Run.

I don’t even remember the final lineup for G4 Canada, but it barely had to do with gaming anymore. The channel only had 6 shows to offer, and shockingly survived 2016. However, 2017 was when the channel finally died, on a total whimper. At least american G4 had something of a send-off with the pong footage, which got uploaded to YouTube. G4 Canada simply went off the air, abruptly, with only a few people even bothering to look up the footage on Youtube.

I recommend reading this, for anyone curious about the history of this version of the channel. It has an archived link of the last line up, and holy hell, they were STILL showing The Lab with Leo Laporte in 2017! :stress:

Just curious, are there more Mass-Archives of any other G4 Shows or was Cinematech the only one that was Archived as much as it was?
