When it comes to manga, the original Japanese assistants, colorists, letterers, and editors are rarely credited either. Most people really don't give a shit about those on the English translation side.

It is, but I would rather work in manga than comics. Manga, they at least give you a year or some to come up with a hit if you're working for a publisher or you can be like Tezuka and work on manga on your off hours, and thanks to the internet, it's way more viable to skip the middle man altogether. Also, while many of the more professional manga are created by teams, they stay professional; they do have ideas, but a manga team has less interference and threats of mutiny because many of them would rather be the straight part that does their job than anything more than they aren't. Many of them also have interests outside of making manga just to be a star, while the author is the one who calls the shots, as they are the wellspring of the entire series's creative core, from art, story, direction, vision, and managing the team and the business. The rest of the team helps to round off and polish the edges.
Comics? I'll sum it up by Comicsgate:
Working at Marvel and DC, (or on 12 Rules For Life) is valuable, though. Without Dale's memorable time on THE HULK, he wouldn't have been able to do PITT, and he wouldn't have the name recognition he has today. Even though Marvel and DC completely exploit their creative talent, you should still work there. If you do it right and treat it as paid exposure, you can do what I'm doing now, and what Dale is going to do when he starts crowdfunding his own stuff.
I do think he'll get 7 figures.
It’s very difficult to get big exposure and become a name brand without some sort of similar position. There are a hundred million little artists selling prints and indie books at conventions and none of them have recognition they need. Whether someone can get a job at the much reduced DC/Marvel comics…well there are definitely challenges, but the advantages of being able to say “former artist on Superman/Batman/etc” or if you’re very lucky/skilled have a book with big name recognition is a big deal.
Although these days a random indie artist with the right diversity boxes checked who dislikes you can have you cancelled from shows so its really just about getting your name out there. If someone can manage it, its a big deal. But it was always hard to manage, and now its much reduced from before.
Personally, you will have to answer the question:
"Marvel and DC have crashed the American comics industry into a red tape hellscape. Are you a bad enough dude to clean up their mess and stand above them both?"

Honestly, Lynzee is such a powderpuff pussy compared to Zac. They may come over here, read things, get all "lol" at us and then post up shitty clickbait level articles back on their site, but they can't compare to Zac. Zac openly said and bragged the most bombacious shit, and even better, he did things to back his words up. He openly associated with disenfranchised consuumers and hipsters who rallied just like the KKK, he openly preached whatever shit was on his mind, and he openly made fun of people and encouraged his fans and userbase to do the same. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he got a manga banned?
If Lynzee thinks that her pathetic attempts to build up clout is working, it isn't. She is going to have to do more than play pussyfoot catty girly gossip games if she wants to be on Zac's level of infamy. Seriously, they're pathetic and boring. Fuck, they couldn't even send Vic Mignogna to jail or defame him right. Though admittedly, Zac killing himself was a total admission of guilt, and so was letting their rapist convention groomer pimp run free. I know well that if they try doing what Zac already did to Anime News Network's reputation today, the moral purity gang wouldn't hesitate to eat them alive.
It's interesting how ANN covered the Seven Seas light novel censorship,
followed by a damage control article asking fans to get upset at the publisher instead of the freelance translators. They also covered the novels getting a corrected released and the employee demands for a Union. And now they've completely ignored how this happened again with that crossdressing manga, even after Seven Seas acknowledged the mistake that the character isn't trans. Yet nothing has been mentioned on their website or encyclopedia pages for Seven Seas or
the manga itself.
