You're talking about Hinduism. Buddha thought that the Indian caste system was bullshit and that Brahmins were full of shit for claiming they were inherently superior to everyone. He also would have been against things like crushing yourself under a statue as delusional and a source of negative karma for both harming yourself and for the terrible state of mind you'd be in at death, which is a major factor in what you reincarnate as next.

Buddhism is generally lot more sensible than Hinduism and was even directly opposed to it. Buddhism's main issue is just that is easily comes across as overly nihilistic since the main conceit of why you would want to achieve Nirvana is basically that all the suffering in life outweighs the pleasure so you should extinguish your ego and subsume your sense of self to the cosmos to be forever free of suffering.

Notably, the mainstream school of Buddhism in Japan feels kind of diet Buddhism and it's basically all about how enlightenment is impossible on your own and you shouldn't try, and instead you should just trust Amida Buddha's (Amitabha's) vow to save everyone and if you do you'll automatically reincarnate into a state of Nirvana in Buddhist heaven and then eternally reincarnate as Buddha spirits to help those on Earth. The second most popular strain in Japanese, Zen Buddhism, doesn't even believe in escaping reincarnation at all, and instead thinks Nirvana is just reality itself viewed through enlightenment from a lack of ego and attachment.
Hinduism is taking many elements of Buddhism into their Niggerly extremist conclusions, but those still exist. All the Asians countries practicing them had a history of abysmal treatment of people and infatuation with luck bordering on insanity.

Even without caste, the concept of reincarnation still reinforces a divine mandate by birth and cheapens individual life. It also pushes people to "farm" karm by whatever folklore or theological methods they can think of

I also never bought the idea that being free from attachments doesn't justify being a psychopath.

understandable when buddha is the only one who achieved enlightenment, thus raising the question as to how anyone else can after untold millennia

That's not getting into every branch of Buddhism having its own spin on things and some just outright being batshit crazy. If Buddhism were ever a coherent faith, it wouldn't have splintered as much. Even if you look at the sects of Christianity, you can see the main difference being the structure of the church and debate about the nature of Christ. You have the oldest branch of Buddhism not acknowledging any other Buddha, Vajrayana's crazy sex shit, Korean Buddhism itself stemming from the Koreans buying into it but acknowledging how fucking messy and in need of correction so much of it was, and the Jap's sidelining all the suffering bits or viewing it from another perspective entirely.

My understanding is that there are many buddha, a buddha is just someone who achieved understanding while still alive. This includes The Buddha but in also includes a lot of other people. Buddhism is a hot mess because people come around every so often and convince people around them they have been Enlightened and then sometimes have a schism over it. The skeleton is often basically the same but there's a lot of room to shove any retarded bullshit you made up along the way on to the idea of buddism. My favorite batshit insanity in Buddhism are the Japanese sects that try to embalm themselves while still alive by eating nothing but nuts and mild poisons for years on end and sometimes manage to leave a non-rotting corpse behind.

I'll have to pull mine out to check.
It's odd that it's mirrored, reads left to right like an American comic.
Please do that and the old Kodansha version I have is also mirrored. Same as the random volume from Germany dated 2001 in my possession which is also mirrored. Even though I am sure other manga were always printed the Japanese way even back in the early 2000s.

I have it logged in my comics geek app at it says it's the 2004 edition.
The first edition came out in 1995.

Being on a staycation until the 3rd of August, I think I'm gonna use this opportunity to rewatch The Ancient Magus Bride. Got the Blu-rays may as well use em

I watched the first two episodes of Chainsmoking Cat because it is generally trending now and was discussed a lot in this thread.
Doing so made me realise I severely dislike toilet humour, as well as degeneracy and putridity being played for laughs. That's not fucking funny. IRL you would grow to despise/hate these people the moment you met and wouldn't want to have anything to do with them. Other than that, the story is just generic, boring slice-of-life shit that's not worthy of your time.
2 filthy tar-stained apartments out of 10.

But I assume the studio with a "whatever, fuck it" from Gege made the music choice to convey a more "fun" revenge fantasy in the same vein as Kill Bill.
i'm extremely late catching up on all these things but one thing i heard while reading JJK (don't care about spoilers) is people screeching about the Kill Bill reference like it isn't something that most people including normies would understand.

Depends on the sect.
And yeah, that's the problem with it. If their idea of spiritual purity is complete detachment from the world, then someone can be morally reprehensible or self-destructive and still qualify with the right argumentation. Hence those wackass sects.

it's amusing when it's not that
but it's just so fucking gross when it is

you have gold with the idea of a retarded cat being an addict
what's with all this piss and shit?

NEET Demon Lord is dumb and funny. I don’t think there’s much in the way of substance to it though.

That is just what most addicts do. You can usually smell them before you see them. It is just being realistic.
