If he wants to be predominated by blond hermaphrodites and have a lot of lesbians in action, he should just watch Bible Black.

AzP is for "young adults" as said) as the friendly goofy cartoonist when he really he's the opposite.

Please distinguish:
1) Young-adult fiction:
Fiction for ages 12 to 18, or 16 to 25 when it comes to books. // Stories that were made with an younger audience in mind, but still held to the same quality standards as every other good story.

2) Saying "No, no, no! You see my story is meant for young adults!":
I don't need to listen to your criticism, because this book isn't meant for adults, and since you are not part of my intended audience you have no right to complain.

So yes:
"It is YA!" can be used in the same way as "It is a kids movie!". For some strange reason, many people believe that something, which is meant for children or younger adults, doesn't need to be as good as the stuff for adults. In my opinion it should be the other way around, because as adult you are better able to tell what is shit and what ist not...

...I mean, remember the music, you were really into when you were 16 years old.

Yeah, I made the same face when I remembered.

^ I was referring to when I think someone tweeted at him that lesbian fanservice was innappropriate for a AzP, thinking it was aimed at children. So he saw it as an insult that his work was for children. It just shows how he thinks his work is better than it is that teenagers would rather read his derivative pirate story than dozens of other much better comics.

Ah, I see. My bad! But I can still see Dobson defending his work as "it is meant for young adults".

Come to think of it:
If I had no soul, "sexy lesbians" would be exactly what I market to horny, 15-year-old boys (an some girls, I guess). And if I have had any creative drive at the age of 15, my 'big story' would probably have included some form of juvenile, hormone-driven wish-fulfillment.

So, transfer that thought over to Dobson, and you have another evidence that he is the worlds oldest, spoiled, 15-year-old teenager...
...who draws cartoons for other 15-year-old teenagers, handles criticism like a spoiled, 15-year-old teenager, awkwardly sucks up to everyone who has a pair of tits like a 15-year-old teenager, has no intro-, retrospection or foresight regarding his own actions - just like a spoiled, 15-year-old teenager.

He also has the brand loyalty of a 15-year-old teenager, he obsesses over every 'cool thing' like a 15-year-old teenager and if he musters some form of excuse, it sounds like the half-assed "There I said it, can I go now?"-excuse a spoiled, 15-year-old teenager would say.

Apparently Dobsons 'development 'as a person, is not only 'arrested', but cuffed to a radiator and left to rot.

Fuck 15 year old, the reason behind the break up with his girlfriend clearly puts his mental state at around 5.

Werent they still together for atleast a year after, they worked around his fear of the dark the next year and arrange their holiday celebrations to be pre dusk.

Dobson is in that weird place only a couple of failures ever manage to enter: He does not find any fucking place/niche to fit in.
Say about certain bronies whatever you want, at least they know horsefuckers want pastel horse porn so they deliver. Say also about Mark Millar what you want, he delivers his shit and makes money out of it for Marvel/DC/whoever just has him on payroll now. Even the general webcomic artist knows who he is gathering to with his/her story and where things are headed. But Dobson?

Dobson thinks he is going to become famous in the mainstream like Superman with a very generic pirate crew webcomic that has no story and only shitty punchlines that can't even be really connected towards each other. Say about Peanuts and Garfield what you want, at least their creators managed to create enough connection between strips that some people were able to make animated shorts/shows out of them that were succesful in their time.
Dobson is completely out of touch with what people nowadays enjoy to read in a story, period. and frankly, considering that kids shows like MLP are even enjoyed by adults, I think it would not be that difficult to come up with something childish even they can enjoy.
Even if he wants to target at young adults, I think any teenager would look at his artstyle and just say "neh, too childish. I rather read a Spiderman comic".
