Commissioning something from the Dob himself must be a lot like this:
You are allowed to pat his ass and give him money, but you're not allowed to do anything with the art - even if he's telling people to spread it, the moment they do, he flips his shit. And obviously, you don't get any goodies either. Usually, artists offer something in return for the "tip" they receive, Dobby has it completely backwards, he wants money in exchange for his art, Patreon is the wrong platform for that.
What Dobby wants is a 100% safe paywall, where only paying customers can view images after they paid him. The funny thing: if he had his perfect platform with build-in do-not-steal-function, he'd be down to like single-digit numbers of supporters, wondering where his fans went/wondering why his fanbase doesn't grow.
Oh sure, it's a good way to exchange information and talk with friends, but the moment it's an anonymous person you will never encounter irl, no matter what he says or does will have any effect on you outside of the internet, thus it's safe to not go apeshit just cause someone called you a stupid cunt.
It's pretty much the complete reversal of the reason why people are dicks online:
If they are anonymous, they can do whatever they want without consequences to them, so why should it have consequences for the people that get attacked.
In other words: people will (hopefully) stop being whiny bitches about internet-meanies.
I, for one, never thought Dobbers was in it for the possibility of hanky panky. He's clearly in it for the validation and asspats.
Well, Dobbers offers nothing and demands everything.Don't a lot of artists with patreons offer stuff like WIPs, private streams, NSFW versions of art (if they're freakeh) and other fun little tidbits as well as early previews of new pieces? Isn't pateron just supposed to kind of be a tip jar to show you enjoy someone's work?

My personal theory: people will realize that interactions on the internet (as far as personal matters are concerned) are meaningless and thus people will stop taking seriously what certain groups like hashtag activists do.Dobson has some totalitarian tendencies (retweets)
