Has Dobby ever like... actually been with a flesh and blood woman before? His kissing always looks weird, but I can see how kissing could be awkward to draw. But the meaty catchers mitt on the tit looks weird. None of the men I've ever been with have tried to mash them down against my ribs by pushing on the tops of them.

I really wanna share a story but its slighly off topic so its going in the spoilers tag

Couple of years ago at my job we used to have a very "exceptional" individual who used to work in the post room. Clearly the guy had no experience with women but always insisted on telling us all the secret power moves he had learned to seduce the ladyz.
Long story short one the older women in the office was taking early retirement, so we throw a bit of a party. Everyones very emotional cause shes a great lady and were gonna miss her, she goes round and speaks to everyone individually sharing stories and kissing each and everyone of us, mostly pecks on the cheek but some of the younger guys get playful kisses on the lips. By the time she gets round to captain exceptional the shit hits the fan. He grabs hold of her, sticks one hand on her ass, the other starts mashing her breasts, he starts to vigorously dry hump her leg whilst locking his mouth against hers like a lamprey...........and that kids is why you shouldnt let porn teach you anything about how adults express emotions

Damn, you're right! It's weird - I remember another Kiwi saying, not too far back, that Blue Bear could never be the "loveable loser" Dobson intends him to be, as there's no sense of separation between the two. In other words, Dobson is his character, and as such is quite unable to find any humour in his avatar's trials and tribulations. Well, seems to me the situation's even worse than that - Dobson identifies so strongly with the bear (much more so than the beardy Beta he used to depict himself as) that it's only the bear he draws with those horrible, someone-took-a-shit-under-his-nose expressions. Never Beta dude.
Well, when you think about it, Ronnie Filjaw has a comic that's pretty much about himself being socially awkward or doing stupid things... And it's so fucking funny. Ronnie from the comics is such a likeable buffoon, you can't help but like him. I guess it has to do with Whomp being about situational humor a lot of people can somewhat relate to.
So yeah, it's possible to have a character representing yourself and still make him a loveable loser. You just have to do it very carefully and skillfully - and no matter what, always keep a certain distance between yourself as an artist and your depiction of yourself in a comic.

Dobbo posted this Patreon update after I went to bed. Like this fucker even works at all. Boo hoo.

Seems like he's trying to pull a Connor Bible.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all have a bit of an update.

It's been a very rough month for me so far. Last month I got a lot of work done, but this month has been kicking my ass big time. I've lost a lot of time and energy dealing with some very stressful things. From being in an incredibly dark depression spiral, to having trolls and harassers taking advantage of Patreon's system to steal everything and mock me.

I've made a lot of sketches for stuff but haven't had the time to complete them yet. So today I just posted about 5 in-progress works that I'm thinking of finishing soon. Sorry about the downtime, I'm doing the best I can at the moment and I hope you all understand.

Thank you so much everyone who's supporting me. It really means a lot to me and I don't want to let you guys down!

-Andy

Isn't that Adventure Time picture the one he livestreamed? As in, people had to pay to watch him fumble around with taped papers and basically drop the ball on the whole thing? I know his piss-poor setup was mentioned before, but I want to say that the AT clusterfuck was the one he did.

I love Whomp. Dobby could never make a comic like that. The Whomp guy has a sense of humor and can poke fun at himself, and at the subcultures he takes part in (the crazy cat man comics and the ones about anime spring to mind). In Dobbys mind, he's perfect. It's everyone else who is the issue. To my knowledge, Dobson has never made a comic where he's the butt of the joke, or where his hobbies and interests are presented as anything but the height of sophistication. It's boring. Even if it was well drawn and written, it's boring to see a character always have the perfect zinger or to always get the one up. The best comics are the ones where you cheer for the hero because there's always the worry that he might not succeed. With Dobby, that fear has been removed and you're just left with a badly drawn, masturbatory blue bear.

There's only one image I can remember of SYAC, where Dobson doing something wrong is the 'joke':

Context: Dobson made two images dealing with "Memes" and people pointed out that he's late to the fad and that his images suck.

They both suck.

Ronnie is also willing to exaggerate his faults (In real life he's overweight but unlike his character he's also pretty tall) while Dobby is unwilling to admit any flaws and the last time someone said something critical about his self insert it became a blue bear.

I may be wrong but I think I saw this very picture on laminated place matts for kids in a pound shop this weekend.
Not the first time I have seen a bunch of downloaded stolen art printed out and sold on market stalls.

Why's he hanging out with that beefcake?

Damn he used to draw himself skinny.

Why's he hanging out with that beefcake?
I haven't read it in like a decade, but the beefy dude was supposed to be his coworker, I think? He liked jock stuff like sports and sports and sports.

It's a shame he's not a bit more self aware or he could turn his pettiness into comics like this one I found:

Why doesn't Dobson have a beer ? Is he waiting for his long island ice tea ?
As a reader I have trouble accepting setting in which the narrative is occurring.

Only jocks drink beer.

Beer and sports. And working out. What fucking losers. Real men draw cartoons, play nintendo, and tweet.

Soooo Dobson basically made Alex into the crew ho? My my, how very progressive.
But you see she is taking control of her sexuality t̶o̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶v̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶t̶i̶t̶i̶l̶l̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶B̶R̶U̶T̶E̶ ̶M̶A̶L̶E̶S̶ because she is a strong independent woman!

He once had a Jewish girlfriend, but this relationship didn't last. Nookie Bear was invited to her family's Hanukka celebration and he got pissed because there was no Santa. "Adult man".
Was that the ugly ginger hair girl he used to draw himself with?

It seems like if you were going to draw your partner, you would make them attractive.

Edit: Okay yeah it was.

Either she was extremely homely, or Dobson was drawing her less attractive out of spite.
