My friends laugh at the chinese doodles I watch all the time because it's not Naruto or whatever shonen crap is in vogue at the time, too. I just laugh with them because it's fucking drawings on a screen and laughing with other people is good and fun.

So his irrational hatred of anime is from his anime club preferring a specific genre? And he specifically seems to lambast the shonen genre because it was the one popular at the time? That's kinda depressing that you are so easily butthurt over a certain genre being popular at a given time that you would write the medium off entirely. I wonder if Dobson also thinks all movies are terrible because Transformers was popular.

It's Iria (which I actually liked), but I just kind of assume that Dobson, being Dobson, telegraphed ahead which buttons to push, so people started to mock his tastes just to get a reaction out of him (like with the Harry Potter spoiler incident).

If I recall, his beef isn't just with shonen.
In his anime beatdown picture he adds in Sailor Moon and freaking Doraemon of all things. So I think he just dislikes popular anime in general, the little hipster.
It's pretty funny because Doraemon is the sort of non-violent, good morals kid's show that I'd imagine him being all over.

His rationale is that it doesn't matter if a real teenage lesbian is uncomfortable with his obsession with teenage lesbians. Because a television show contained teenage lesbians, it is not creepy for him to be obsessed with teenage lesbians.
