I really dont get why hes so adamant about doing things non-lethally in every game he plays. Like does he not realize that killing hostile people in a fictional game does not make you a bad person? Im fairly sure he just rants about it publicly because he probably thinks it'll make people think he's kind and gentle or whatever, but honestly when you treat actual living people like shit the way he does, being able to stop a virtual fight without killing someone isnt gonna do much for your karma.

I feel like everyone else has said it, but I might as well repeat it. It feels like the 1990s mentality has never left Dobson. And this is why he feels like he doesn't want to be violent. Or he doesn't want to be violent in a game just in case he ends up becoming a psychopath and go on a killing spree.

Or maybe I'm just looking into this too deeply and it's just the typical Dobson logic- Saying something that he pulls out of his ass and twists it to be a truth of some sort.

How could you Dobson, all those poor Goombas and Koopas you have been stomping on for decades as you assumed the role of that genocidal plumber as he crushed heads under his boots!

You do understand this is all pretend, right? Make believe, fictional? Oh wait I see, Beata Anita told you violent games affect people in real life therefore you should feel bad for enjoying them.

Yeah BULLSHIT!!! This guy did a Non-violent playthrough of the game and completed the whole main quest with only 2 kills.
Again Dobson, just because you say something doesn't make it truth by default.

Wimp.

This is his latest attempt at activist re-branding - he's a pacifist. Expect a lot of "as a pacifist, I..." posts.

Except as usual, he doesn't get it at all. Playing a video game where you kill people is no more non-pacifist than reading a book about a war. And really, the "mercy mod" isn't all that moralistic - you're still overpowering people with violence, which is pretty contrary to the principles he claims to hold so dear here.

And just like his attempts at feminism, it's all about his feelings and the stress he experiences - like he thinks nobody could be convinced to care about non-violence until they found out how harmful simulated video game violence it is to one A. Dobson of Bumblefuck, MA.

Dobson's Patreon was up to 110 dollars, now it's back on 105 dollars and 42 patreons. Can't be bothered to make a screencap.

Looks like the "I don't really want to pay"-exodus has started.

Hey, looks like he'll have that new Mac by Christmas! Next year but still.

I'll take What is Oblivion and Morrowind for $500, Trebek.

He mentioned in one of his journal reviews that he did try out Morrowind and wasn't into the game pretty much (I for one love the game very much as well with other Elder Scrolls games), but interestingly he thought Morrowind was right before Skyrim but not Oblivion (that what got me into the Elder Scrolls universe). He may not heard of Oblivion then, so you're close. :)

Maybe if he's so into exploring, he could like... go outside.

And you don't even need to go that far out of the way. Make a wrong turn and take a road you've never gone down before. Stay on the train a couple of stops past where you normally get off. Put some crackers and tea in a backpack, pick a direction, and just walk. There's a whole world out there, Dobhead. Go explore it.

But that's too haaaaard. :(

I don't doubt that he puts as much effort in real life things as he does in his art.

Well, well, well. Dobson managed to tweet all this in a row:

And here I was thinking he wouldn't leave something as important like this for the last moment, silly me.

10 years is a pretty long time to be in denial, but he seems to go for even more.

Because making art is not about doing it because you like it or love it, it's just about stress and making money.

Yet he still admits "there's still some mistakes but I left them there" on a recent piece. There's pressure, but Dobson easily ignores it with lazyness and I-don't-care attitude.

Growing fat and lazy you mean, hey oh!

Maybe because they are paying you to do it? and the moment you fail to deliver, the money will be gone... like in a real life job, egads!.

Tell that to anyone working in a high risk environment like a soldier and see what happens. "I don't know about you, but I'm developing PTSD from all this messages on the internet"

Now look a Dobson's numbers: he managed to attain 56,000+ followers on DeviantArt, that is HUGE for any artist, so at the very least 1% (560 Patrons) should be willing to donate each month. Lets see how would this theoretically translate IF Dobson were actually a good artist with a honest, discerning and well-off audience with disposable income:

He's had his DA account for 10 years, his real problem is that his audience grew up without him and moved on from DA. I'd be shocked if even 10K of those were actual active accounts. Every so often a DA piece breaks 10K views but it's usually things like Steven Universe artwork which must get a lot of drive by traffic from gemtlemen just searching for SU.

Judging from these views I can only really come to the conclusion a DA follower has a very low value compared to other networks. Take Tumblr for instance, even if you have <1000 followers thanks to the reblog system your work can end up with tens of thousands of likes/reblogs and many more views on top of that. A Tumblog with 56K followers would be a huge reach and would translate much better to Patreon dosh.

I think his 1260 Twitter followers are a more accurate gauge of his fanbase.

It kinda pisses me off he treats criticism like oppression. Have we ever had confirmation of an extremely sheltered upbringing?

I have PTSD.

It pisses me the hell off that he says the shit he does about it.

I hope his Mac catches on fire. What an asshole.

His art does look familiar though. Has he done artwork for That Guy With The Glasses, or now as the site is called, Channel Awesome?

It's angering that Dobson is claiming that he has PTSD. He was not in war, sexually harassed by women as a middle schooler(latter has happened to me), nor any other thing that can be considered traumatic. I do apologize for bringing personal stuff on here.

It completely marginalizes real sufferers. I was in and out of psych wards and clinics for years before I found a therapist I trusted, and found a doctor who I feel works well with me on medications. I'm still very much dealing with the ramifications of what happened to me despite all my efforts, and I do it with very little complaining. It's absolutely disgusting to watch a piggy man baby cry and beg for attention because he got splashed with water and laughed at online. Faking mental illness really is one of the most vile things a person can do.
