That's what makes this guy such a massive cow. He treats any actual fans like total shit, but at the same time, even the most blatant troll gets a rise out of him every time.

A little aside about me: Rainbows are one of my favorite things ever, yet Dobson's overuse makes me hate them. That's how much he sucks.*

*this was mostly facetious but I agree that he overuses that. It's like drawing two straight people kissing and having the background be the words "HETERO LOVE" in giant letters or something.

Oh god I can relate to that feel. It's funny how I tend to roll my eyes at a lot of same sex pairings yet have almost entirely those kinds of 'ship myself. Thing is, there's a difference between doing it for the characters involved like, say, thinking two characters might make a cute couple so make em gay and well... acting like an obnoxious faux-progressive over it and ironically failing to treat it like something that's normal.
 
Holy shit. I was joking about how I'd encounter entire teams using nothing but the Splat Roller, but of course that's what Dobson goes for. For reference: the Splat Roller is incredibly overpowered and takes less skill to use.
 
I bet his Patreon numbers will drop even lower before the weekend's out. There should totally be a poll where people guess by how many dollars his Patreon will drop in a week.
 
One of the things with Patreon pledges Dobby doesn't understand is they don't even have to be that big a thing, they just need to be SOMETHING. For instance take the guy who makes Dwarf Fortress. He isn't making porn patreon bank, but he's making a few thousand a month (hell he made around $3-4k a month on donations before Patreon was even a thing, current YTD is $22k), enough to support a lower middle/ upper lower class lifestyle just from making his one free game. And what is the backer reward? A crayon doodle or a short story set in your generated world. The point isn't that the work is quality (It isn't, I mean it's art by a programmer), but that it shows that you actually give half a shit about the people supporting your hobby.

The problem is to Dobby his art is all about him, not about his "fans" and the number of fans is growing smaller every day.

Plus if he offered something like sketches as rewards, his fans would probably mostly request the kind of cartoon shit that he likes. He would more than likely have more fun by actually working more.
 
I think this Patreon business is what bothers me more than anything else about him (everything else is a close second combined, but hear me out). I would kill to have even half as many fans as him who would like to support me and my art. I would love to have people who dote on my work, people to draw special goodies for, people to share fun facts about my characters with.
And then here's this guy, pissing it away playing Splatoon and drawing stuff like LESBIAN KICK! or the incredibly witty Steven Universe x Bob's Burgers crossover everyone apparently wanted to see. (except they really didn't)
 
Dobson is unique in that both of the major online communities of 4chan and Tumblr hate him and make fun of him. In spite of all of their differences, users of both of those sites can get together and laugh at how pathetic he is.
