Wait, people actually care whether Dobson should be defined as a lolcow? I always thought we were just laughing at him because he was immature and acted like a little bitch, and that was kinda funny to watch because he's like 40 and should know better.
Really, he seems like more of a sadcow than anything, seeing as he:
1) has obvious potential and skill as an artist, but never developed any of it into something meaningful to others--or even himself, one might argue
2) never truly learned how to accept criticism and therefore prune the less desirable parts of his style
3) evidently does not particularly enjoy creating art at all, but rather desperately seeks to recreate the acceptance he felt when he was a popular fetish artist
4) has poured his entire life into his identity as an artist, with hardly any perceivable return whatsoever
5) spends all his time sucking up to people who will never, ever notice him
6) is generally just a miserable person who hates himself
Sure, he's got some legitimate art skills, and he did go to school for it, and it definitely shows, but what always turned me off about Dobson's art is that his inability to deal with his own imperfection has led him to never, ever change his style in any way at all. Combined with the fact that he doesn't seem to have matured past seventh grade, as well as the particular influences he likes, we get this very basic, obnoxiously cartoony way of drawing that clearly resonates very poorly with his audience. He will never change it because he's stuck in the past, obsessed with the attention he got when he was a fetish artist, considering it the most important and best time of his life, and wishing to recreate that time of glory without the backlash that came with it.
This is why Dobson is so obnoxious. He was a miserable person who hated himself and wanted to be perfect, and then a shitload of people told him he was perfect. Now he refuses to change from what he did during that time because he thinks if he can just rediscover what he was doing right, if he can just recreate what made him popular then, he will be set for life--with money, and most importantly, attention. But he never will, because times have changed, and also because he doesn't get that doing inflation fetish art for pervs =/= doing angry old blue bear art for SJWs.
Dobson is pretty funny, pretty eccentric, and really just pathetic. You don't have to have a ton of ADF-level personal drama to warrant being followed on this forum. You just have to be a massive retard in public enough to get noticed by somebody, and then it's all over. That's how the internet is.
