I remember some Kiwi saying that Dobson couldn't decide whether he wanted to stick with his original anime-influenced style, or try for a more Western-looking style - is that the reason his stuff is so uncanny valley? As someone who knows next to nothing about cartooning, I can't work out what the problem is... Does he simply not have the technical chops to draw anything remotely realistic?
Maybe it's just me, but part of it seems to be that all of his depictions of emotion and expression feel... hamfisted. As if he doesn't totally understand how to portray such things...? I'm not sure. His characters just don't feel very expressive or relatable to me, just by looking at them.

Yes, you may well be right. In fact, it's highly probable. By now, just about everyone's pointed out how "angry" and "smug" are the only emotions he's able to portray with any accuracy. (Alarmingly so, in fact...)

Hey, Dobson's Link looks awfully familiar...

Has he ever drawn something without immediately going to "muh anxiety/depression/PTSD! I hope I can continue drawing! Please pat my ass!"?

Oh, here we go...

That's called "being lazy", Dobson.

I'm sure you won't cop out in a few days like with KorraSami week.

What a luxury, some of us don't have that option… if we don't pick up the pen/mouse then we don't get paid and we don't eat.

Why the hell does his anxiety even stop him from drawing? I mean, I know he doesn't actually seem to find any joy in it, so it can't become a coping mechanism like it is for a lot of artists.
Last I saw, he said it was because he knows he's gonna catch flack for poor technique imperfections, right?
Then maybe he should take a stab at drawing with the explicit intention of not uploading it so it can't be critiqued?

Oh, right. Because that'd be practicing.

I agree. Dobson's characters aren't relatable in any way. He thinks they are, but they come across as smug dipshits. Carl is probably the only one of Dib Dob's characters that is relatable.

The TRUE and HONEST Link is trans. This has been CANON since Zelda II, you frickin' imbecile.

<-- Link's inner self.

Unless I'm mistaken, that "Elitists" journal puts him at 33 years old. So next time he starts whining about Splatoon or other video games, just remember, thirtyfreaking three.

He looks like 48. Damn, he is only a few years older than me and looks twice as old.

If he drew his characters in other moods than always either smug, annoyed, angry or depressed, maybe his art would be just that little less disgusting.

He's just craving for hugbox and asspats as usual. In Deviantart he get tons of those. It has somehow... become a habit of his...
I guess the frequency of him ranting and looking for pity getting intense on twitter due to low number of people that even responding to him compared to DA.
