The only way I would feel any sympathy for Andy is if the CSA claim is actually true. That wouldn't be his fault. Provided he was not out jaywalking or riding his work bike in the middle of the street, the car accident is probably not his fault either.

I'm starting to think there was never an accident at all. My crazy conspiracy is Andy fell off his bike, acted like he was more hurt than he really was, got some random passerby to believe him. According to the phone call his father got the person said 'You'd better come down here if you want to see your son before he dies' or something to that effect but when Andy went to the hospital literally nothing was wrong except superficial face contusions.

I really do think he fell off his bike, not on purpose, and once he realized all the attention he got he really liked it. Liked it a whole lot and then decided to devote his life to chasing that again. Nobody was arrested for it and it bears a shocking resemblance to everything else he's hammed up in his life since then.

i think he keeps Andy mostly because they are miserable and broken, and , Andy has been blackmailing , gas-lighting and manipulating them for years and they are so broken by it and guilt ridden, even though they should not be, but a lot of abuse victims ( and yes Tom and Joe are legit abuse victims) do keep those bad relationships around, its partly due to that and in other part they're passive aggressive, they are miserable but they refuse to take any steps to change their situation and get out of the abusive relationship. no amount of money or other gains would motivate ,me to keep someone like that around, Andy is dangerous, he is nasty; hes a con artist, hell, doing all the con and fraud games he does can potentially get other associated with you in trouble ! that alone is enough to cut all ties !

When you have a trauma bond or Stockholm Syndrome, you are caught in a cycle of waiting for those intermittent moments where it feels like the relationship can be salvaged. Or, like you said, you've succumbed to learned helplessness and feel like the costs of breaking it off outweigh the benefits (even when they don't).

Liked it a whole lot and then decided to devote his life to chasing that again. Nobody was arrested for it and it bears a shocking resemblance to everything else he's hammed up in his life since then.

i guess my question here is if the shelter staff knows that he is trying to manipulate other shelter residents into doing these things for him...that would be a MASSIVE rule violation, and possible lawsuit, if the other resident got hurt or assaulted by his stupid ass while trying to do health care tasks for which they werent trained or hired to do in the 1st place.
