The only way I would feel any sympathy for Andy is if the CSA claim is actually true. That wouldn't be his fault. Provided he was not out jaywalking or riding his work bike in the middle of the street, the car accident is probably not his fault either.
AFAIR no one was arrested for the bike accident (like a DUI or reckless driving charge) so that implies it was a either a genuine accident, determined to be Andy's fault, or that unfortuntely nothing could be definitively proven. The latter is often the case when people are hit by cars.
But it goes without saying, none of this makes what he has become OK and can only serve to explain so much of the behavior. There is no good excuse for the continual abuse and attempted murder of his family and abuse of the public sector.
