I'll do you one better. I have an big hypothesis though it'll never be seen through for the next several lifetimes.
1) Thanks to internal geography being insanely favorable to traveling around the large populated, productive core east of the Great Plains and the Oregon Trail/South Pass westward being just as blessed to reach the West Coast;
2) External geography being insanely favorable of deserts and mountains keeping (organized armies of) Mexico from crossing over easily and the Great Lakes/Appalachians/Adirondacks keeping (organized armies of) Canada from assaulting us alongside two massive oceans east and west from the rest of the world;
3) In spite of current demography issues a clear sense of who an American is in language (English) religion (Protestant Christianity), and ethnicity (White Anglo or at least Germanic) and a willingness to fight for their culture and nation;
4) The concept of federalism and republicanism having long enough continuity even from colonial days to gestate as the normal form of governance;
5) Now 250 years of unification and memes aside no sign of stopping anytime soon;
I'd argue we aren't a Rome destined to break up for good... but a China that even if it does somehow break up, is only temporary with all the pieces actively seeking to reunite and still collectively recognizing all it as America.
And in the same vein we can recognize "China" as a nigh-eternal people/culture/civilization with even a long-term form of governance famed to them (the Emperor and his imperial bureaucracy), so will "America" be indisputably recognizable to us centuries from now in terms of territory, culture, ethnicity and language, and some form of federal republic governing it all, even if it technically might not be the direct USA and Constitution from 1789. In addition, it can even be argued Rome was simply unlucky enough via the Germanic and Muslim invasions to break down before it could reunite itself the way China will reunite since it and China saw each other as west-east mirrors. But America has no such (obvious) foreign threats with even better conditions to patch itself back together should it somehow fall apart.
Like it or lump it, lads, America is here to stay for the rest of human history. God bless it.

I should've said something along the lines of a peculiarly unitarian/united cultural identity despite what can be vast distances involved between the population, thanks to what you said regarding memes and genes.
The geography begat the population spreading out quickly and easily, which remained under one government thus allowing continental peace, thus in turn allowing a singular culture and identity - despite such a giant territory - to gestate long enough to become REAL.

The local fireworks show that I can see from my front porch starts at 10pm. Till then, I'm engaging in my usual Independence Day tradition of admiring my guns, drinking dirty booze, and listening to patriotic music.

Many people have said America is so litrully the best at everything ever, "everything" is not the same for everyone else as it is for America. Many people, so many people, very smart and great people have said it. The smartest and greatest people. There should be lists of everything for everyone else, and "lists" that only have America on it. It's insulting to how much better America is to have not-Americas on lists with it
