Her narcissism comes across as just her inability to understand how her actions and the things she says impact the people around her. She's just unable to think outside of herself and her immediate needs.
Yes. What you're describing is empathy. A narcissist is someone who struggles mightily with empathy and in many cases they're altogether incapable of experiencing it. It's also something we see in very young children because empathy isn't something we're born with it's something we develop as we mature. Hence someone lacking in empathy could be described as narcissistic or as emotionally immature. They're interchangeable in that context. A lot of narcissistic behaviors like gaslighting, triangulation and stonewalling are also basically tools of the trade for tiny irrational children as well.
