- Go with a lone wolf plant monster girl or the tranny globo homo version from your gay ass reality.


Then again, is this even something they are building up towards or its just the fanbase making up shit thats not there?

*Or option number 3, declare your love for the former in front of the latter during your friend's wedding, completely ruining any chance with both and destroying a friendship while at it. The second hand cringe was out of this universe.

They absolutely can. But as the original concepts they were. I won't say they were extraordinary, but their first few stories they had in Adventure Time were fun. It was good because they were just alternate takes of AT at its prime. If they had stuck to that, it might have worked.

As their current watered-down version, and millennials-in-their-30s metaphors, though? Yeah, they are a chore to watch. Obvious self-inserts of the writer's issues.
 
man it took the whole season to get a good episode where something happens finally
it doesn't really save the season for me. I'll still watch the last episode but I'll probably skip the 3rd season (if it's ever made)
 
i watched the original series up until when finn got cucked by FP, and i really got sick of him getting cockblocked by petty writers at every single episode. from what i read this only got worse throughout the season until the giant lesbian kiss finale. yeah that's a great show for all the gen z kiddos growing up watching it, all women you try to go for will never be interested in you because of reasons you will never understand or they're lesbians. the world and dialogue also just got too weird for me to follow. regular show was way better up until the last few seasons, i still come back to that every now and then.

To be fair, the sequels to those shows also misinterpreted their relatively simple base series as well. OG Ben 10 was just a scooby doo style summer roadtrip show with a whopping recurring cast of 3 characters, and Avatar TLA was a globetrotting adventure centered around completing a literal 4 point checklist (with bullet 1 already checked). The sequels turned into bloated, aimless monstrosities that focused on character drama, retconned lore, and shitty romance subplots. I dont know what it is with modern writers and turning every story into this same melodramatic daytime soap opera genre but its really gay.

You started seeing it in print, where there would be an interesting plot that got sidelined for books upon books of politics and lame character drama. Eventually you started seeing it in everything. Some high concept genre show would devolve into character drama, only to do a driveby of the main plot in the last episode. I think it became a way to pad out episodes without putting a lot of effort in and most writers have a loathing of anything genre unless it's Buffy.

What was the point of using the Fionna and Cake concept in the first place if they're entirely different characters this time instead of actual genderbends? Every interesting clip I've seen of season 1 had the alternate timelines, Lich, or Simon doing something cool while those two just kinda hung out in the background being kinda annoying.
 
Thank god they actually let Finn be happy for once. I don’t like this spinoff, but I do appreciate that they did show just how many people care about Finn in Ooo.
 
There's a sequel bait post-credits scene, so unless the Netflix WBD buyout fucks it, there's going to be more of this slop.
Do you think they'll course correct after everyone hated the gay townie shit, or will it be another season of 80% meandering about hurt feelings and 20% actual plot?
