I’m gonna guess yes, it will change her, for many reasons. The main reason though is because motherhood will fulfill Pantsu’s narcissistic needs better than Ralph can. Motherhood is the eternal gift for the eternal narcissist. You see this a lot with women, where the game of seeking male attention ends abruptly with the birth of the child because they get so much attention just by being a mother (from the child itself, but also from other people). Motherhood alleviates them from the burdens of female competition (e.g., being pretty, interesting, socially desirable, etc.) and replaces them with a permanent justification for existing. Going forward, it becomes their sole source of self-importance.
All of this applies doubly to a person like Pantsu, who is exceptionally thirsty for attention. She will enjoy the attention she gets from being a mom more than the attention she got from hanging around Killstream, The Dick Show, Digibro, etc. In short, she won’t need Ralph or his Killstream to get her narcissistic fix. I fully expect Pantsu to milk her motherhood for social media approval. She will probably start a “mommy blog” or something like that. Just like her trad LARP, motherhood will become the identity she advertises to the world.
Does that necessarily mean she’ll leave Ralph? No. But remember, Ralph is also a narcissist—worse even than Pantsu. And unlike Pantsu, Ralph needs the Killstream. Killstream is his baby; it is his justification for existing from which all self-importance derives. Everything I wrote about motherhood in the first paragraph above applies to Ralph’s relationship to ”The Ralph Retort” brand. Nobody on God’s green Earth paid any attention to Ralph before he started TRR, and he knows it. Without it, he has nothing to talk about, and no one has any reason to talk about him. That is not an acceptable reality for Ralph. He will never voluntarily abort his beloved Retort, no matter how unprofitable it is, no matter how much misery it brings Pantsu or her kid.
When Trad Mommy Pantsu presents Ralph with a choice—our family, or The Retort—what do you think he will choose?
I hate to be insensitive to tragedy, because I know unexplained “Sudden Infant Death” does happen, but I always got the impression SIDS was a euphemism for “parental negligence.” And with the amount of newborns that die just from getting rolled on, or from being placed on their stomach before being able to flip, I can see why the state isn’t eager to prosecute thousands of new manslaughter cases every year. But setting that aside, if Ethan’s baby dies of SIDS, I’m going to consider him a child killer.
