Belfast news: Multiple reports of houses being attacked in 'north Belfast area', including arson (X)
Intimidation in south Belfast (X) (legal note, assault means intimidation here, while 'battery' means a physical attack)
Police have arrested two men following an assault and damage to a house and car in the Donegall Avenue area of south Belfast in the early hours of this morning.
Shorlty after 1am - several males approached a house and began shouting aggressively as the occupants were trying to leave the property.
Police say the group then confronted the residents of the property and attacked them, resulting in injuries to two people and damage to the property.
It is believed several weapons were used in the incident.
A woman and a number of young children were inside the property at the time of the incident
One man aged in his 40s, and one man aged in his 20s have been arrested on suspicion of a number of related offences.
I suppose we can expect to see sporadic arson and other suggestions to remigrate for a while unless anything massive happens to reinvigorate sentiment.
I don't think the riots will have any immediate impact, other than some immigrants fleeing.
Remember that the Ballymena riots also happened in NI? That actually happened exactly one year before this one; the rioters first gathered on the 9th of June, 2025. There were also riots following the Southport murders in 2024. This isn't a new thing in Northern Ireland so don't expect this event to have any political impact in the near future.

NI is almost completely separate from mainland politics, but a growing sentiment here is 'if we can't force them out, we'll make it uncomfortable for them to stay'. I would not be surprised if that is the attitude of the NI rioters as well (especially with their... experiences). They feel their political representation has failed them, so they'll make it hell on earth for forrins who want to stay. It seems TPTB are rushing the illegal/asylum seekers out of NI and leaving 'legal' immigrants to fend for themselves.

Yeah, some immigrants have fled, but nothing has changed politically yet, the government can always bring more people in. I don't advocate any violent solutions to the issue, but it is true that the UK at large doesn't give a toss about Ulster; people there have to throw a fit for anyone to even take a glance, that's what my relatives living there would tell me.
