I think it was a mistake in the attack last Saturday to not take out the SU 30s and more of their heavy equipment, perhaps small arms depots if they were known.
I understanding is that the f-16s are ancient from the early '80s. Have they even been airborne recently? Probably they could be upgraded.

The Su-30MK2s they have are export versions so they aren't a threat. If they take off in anger they will be shot down BVR by a F-35 or F-18. The F-16s could be upgraded but they're so old there's no point. They can't even engage ground targets effectively. The Venezuelan air force is a joke. If Diosdado fucks around he will be black bagged and any military assets he has will be destroyed by a JDAM.

I think people are reading this the wrong way.
So far, the only groups that haven't really accepted the new management are the colectivos. They have even published videos calling, some unspecified group, a bunch of traitors.
The uniformed services, seemingly, have all accepted the new bosses. The SEBIN, the political police, was even escorting the Americans to their embassy to do an inspection.
I think that now, any colectivo, that doesn't accepts the new regime is going to get branded an irregular armed group and the government is going try and dismantle them. It wouldn't be the first time the Venezuelan government has fought against his own golems.
It is going to be very messy in some cases given that they were being armed with government stocks and the colectivos have various members in the military and the rest of the security forces but unless they decide to hide in the mountains then I don't think they'll have a chance.

Before this they regularly did flights with 4 of them, they're only kept operational just out of pride since all of the ones still flying have special liveries, none of them even have ground attack ability since they were sold to Venezeula in purely Air-2-Air configeration as the original purpose was for the Venezuelan Air Force to provide air cover to tankers against the Cuban Air Force if the Cold War went hot and for some reason America didn't immediately obliterate Cuba.

Diosdado has appeared with the uniformed services under the Ministry of the Interior, the ministry he's in charge of. Outside of political rallies where he also shows up with Delcy and other figures, I haven't see him appearing with the colectivos in any of the official videos they post. As much as I would like for him to eat a JDAM, I think his survival instincts kicked in and he's going to play nice.

Aircraft or heavy equipment can be taken out at any time if it becomes a factor in putting down a civil uprising, which it likely won't. And there's always a possibility of the the military/parts of the military flipping as well, new government vs militia or all out civil war is still in the cards.
If small arms catches are known we'll just let our contacts on the ground know about them, firearms in the hands of our guys is better than destroying them.

Venezuela has two great detention centers for political prisoners, the main one being El Helicoide and the second one is La Tumba

That was my thought My understanding is they have not upgraded any of them since the original sale.
They were going through different allies getting communist bloc aircraft for Ukraine I wouldn't be surprised if there was a swap for those SU-30s for some new f16s. For some reason the ukrainians did not do so well with them.
