1980s anime aesthetic - I remember when they used to animate on ones

Did that even get a decent release or are the blu-rays still screwed up in some way?

[hchcsen] has a BD rip torrent on nyaa. It looks fine to me, but I haven't gone through all episodes again.

Lot of my favorites have been mentioned already, but gotta throw out Gundam with a dash of character design that reminds me of Top Gun.

Remember what they took from you!

I got a recommendation. Not terribly long, but the art is pretty good.
I watched it years ago, forgot the title, and rediscovered it after Kenny Lauderdale reviewed it.

SDF Macross is a must watch for anyone into retro scifi. It's dated, but the art is charming, and it focuses a lot on interpersonal relationships in a way sci fi mostly doesn't. It's not a masterpiece but it's unique.

The credits are shot on a shoulder cam with a guy literally flipping through an album of collages. 10/10

so it was probably the first anime for a lot of people.
Checking in. This and tank police at my friends place not really sure what this "anime" thing was but really dogging what I was seeing.

You know what's always a cool trope, I always enjoyed. Computer/HUDs displays flashing computational numbers and lines.

It's a minor detail but it always adds to a frantic battle scene.

Going back through the Gundam series made me feel a certain way, nothing that comes out now could ever stand up to seizure colors and robo-suit battles. It's the closest feeling I get to being that image of the kid sitting on the couch on Saturday morning with a bowl of coco puffs.

Go Nagai is more 1970s than 1980s, but I still adore Mazinger Z and Devilman.
