The news does not bode well for cape flicks in general, as people have reported The Suicide Squad earned like $100 million less than it's badly reviewed predecessor - which has to hurt, considering that whatever you or I here think of it, The Suicide Squad has been well-received by critics and fans alike, which is not something you see happen much anymore.

However, it looks more and more like the DC Cinematic Universe is a dead franchise walking. The making of the new Batman has been a ridiculous soap opera behind the scenes and the rumors are going around that Robbie is getting the axe as Harley Quinn, the people running the show at Warner Brothers have decided to hire JJ Abrams to "save" it by race-swapping Superman and a bunch of other characters on account of his being one of the biggest hackfrauds in Hollywood. Abrams is not only a dime-store Spielberg but more importantly, he's a killer of franchises.

There's an article in the Grauniad that asks this very question, Is The Suicide Squad the beginning of the end for the superhero movie?

Sucks to jear the movie not going well. I actually like it. Also why do they want to get raid of Robbie? Birds of Prey may have suck. But this movie shows she is a good Harley. It's not a case of WB not wanting to do a Batman movie, as they are making them, as well as putting Batman into everything they can at the same time.

WB put out Batman Soul of the Dragon, Batman Long Halloween Part 1 and 2 in this year alone, they love to milk Batman. Also, Flash movie has both Batfleck and Micheal Keaton in it, you are likely right about it not being much screen time, but it shows how WB will put Batman anywhere they can. They also got Batman spin-offs, like Joker 2, Batgirl and a Gotham City Police Department show in the works.

The only way WB could have got a Batman movie out faster, was to force Ben Affleck to make the one based on his script or to fast track one without time given to make sure it was any good. Lots of shit you can give WB, but the lack of Batman movies is really not one of them.

Superman is different, while they are milking the hell out of the brand, they never tried to do a Man of Steel 2 in any way, despite the cast from my understanding still being up for it.

I think this film just made me realize I'm too old for capeshit at this point, I only laughed once in the entire film: When Harley fins out they where going to rescue her and says "I can go back if you want, and even then it was only a chuckle, the rest of the film just felt like it was really trying to make me laugh but kept being cringy instead, King Shark feels pointless, Amanda Waller getting knocked out and then just letting it slide seems out of character to me, unless the blow made her forget what she was doing or some shit. And I hated John Cena's character but according to my coworkers he is "The absolute best part of the film" and Warner seems to agree since he is getting an HBO series.

I actively watched WWE back in the early 00's back when Cena first debuted. I vividly remember watching his first match against Kurt Angle. I even remember the stupid headgear and fake wig that Kurt had been wearing at the time and took off right before challenging him.

Unsure if that movie is still in the works, been a while since any new news and HBO Max now have a Val Zod Superman thing in the works, which could be due to the backlash from black Clank Kent bullshit, where even black people were asking them not to race bend but to put black characters on the screen instead.

Apparently, from what I understand based on Facebook and Twitter shit, many are upset over the animal deaths (mainly birds) in the film, with most being upset over the parakeet kill at the start and some even leaving the theater early because of it. Can anyone else confirm similar situations? I know there are other factors at work here for the movie's flop like covid and Gunn, but I'm curious if that had an effect as well.
