Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Not so much catch-up gear but an alternative option for people who really want to sperg on that maximum efficiency gearing for raid prep. Say, the Savage content is still plenty doable with fully decked out weekly tomestone gear, but the Mythic+ gear could exist for the tryhards who really want to be all set for raiding, similar in intention to the people who opt for the slightly lower leveled pentameld gear – because the pentameld slots gives people a degree of stat optimization – thus, it can be just difficult enough to filter the braindead, no effort players but easily doable for people intending to raid. I hear that Floors 100-200 of the Deep Dungeons are basically like this by design as well, so maybe those can serve as an initial reference point for tuning.

Having it come out alongside the raids is definitely the intent, although I think that maybe the releases should be staggered such that you either have the new Mythic+ dungeon released a month or two before the big Savage tier release (to give the hardcore players time to get themselves totally ready), or maybe a month/2 weeks after the raid drops so people who are struggling have options that could help their progression.
I think it being released early in the raid cycle is best if this is an actual gear method and not cosmetic/flex rewards. Maybe during X.05 patch a month into the X.0 as an example it'd work. So it won't interfere with people trying to do Savage early, but exists in case people get stuck and helps extends play time for people that want to find new things to do.

Floors 101-200 PotD is just hard enough that it isn't braindead, though it can get really crazy with certain mob combinations (like the roaming chimeras or if you get a room with like 10 mobs all bunched up). PotD's last 100 floor's biggest challenge is you get 0 check points and the timer is not on your side as time out is a legitimate threat due to how long and slow you have to go through it if you want to be safe.

I would dislike it if the equivalent to mythic+ becomes part of gear progression.
Dungeon grind has only ever been popular with the people that love grinding. And I've never seen anyone doing mythic+ grind that actually looks happy
If it were effectively just an additional weekly lockout that you can safely ignore if you just want to do Savage or can just clear all of Savage anyway I don't think it matters. What makes Mythic+ a chore from what I've asked and parsed through is how rush heavy it is (which enables arguments if you go slow) to get anything worthwhile and you do it all the damn time.

More or less a hypothetical hard FFXIV dungeon would be like any other weekly fight, as I envision it working within 14's design space, you prog it, do it once a week, then go back later if you want more gear or ignore it if you don't care. It is effectively a supplemental tuned to players that are not chimps that want to gear things faster for their main early on or their alts later on, but aren't hardcore grinders who just want some prog help and bits of cosmetics/glamour thrown in the mix if you want to spice it up.

I don't trust it to remain optional I guess.
In the case of XIV, it would be a playerbase problem more than anything, which... True. Raid spergs gonna raid sperg, as they always do.

I would much rather see dev timr spent on something people will do with a smile rather than grinding and bitching about the state of the game
Literally everything that isn't seasonals, Main Story, and optional side content (basically Gold Saucer) is something that people grind and bitch about in XIV and have always done so. Usually because most people are under the mistaken impression that their time is valuable and shouldn't be spent having to do things in order to get things they want in an MMO environment that is, by nature, meant to be a timesink.

That's why I think it's best to go with a tiered difficulty system. Lower tier clears awards SOME cosmetics and a title, maybe the midway point drops the weekly gear, and doing anything higher up than that is pure bragging rights, with maybe mounts, exclusive cosmetics, and another title tied to completion. Kind of sort of like how Second Coil Savage, and I guess the current Ultimates, are like.

I actually had something come to mind just a few minutes ago, but you know what might be neat to see again? 4 man Extreme fights, sort of like what they did with Rathalos. Granted, that was pretty much just normal difficulty Rathalos, but you're limited down to four people instead of eight, but still.

I mean that's true. People are always gonna bitch about having to grind... But they also bitch when they don't have to grind. Remember the initial reaction to the first tier of the Resistance Weapons?
I think people just like bitching in general lol.

Or the gigantic tantrum the entire raidtranny scene threw at the fact that we're not having a second Ultimate fight this expansion and they're cucked into waiting a major patch or two into Endwalker into getting their next Ultimate.

The horseshoe of player grievances goes from "I'm too much of a casual to do all this hardcore content!" to "I'm too hardcore to be contented with casual content!" and saying that you're fine either way make you subjected to endless sperging from either side.

True enough. I do think there are a lot of people in the middle, silently enjoying the game. But as usual the loudest voices are those on the extremes, and they're almost always advocating for stuff that would harm the game long-term for everyone outside their own group. That's what's really frustrating.

Eureka/Bozja would be a great model for content that could present another gearing path like you see with M+ in WoW, and we already have gear from Bozja showing up in BiS lists for some jobs. The problem in this xpac is that Bozja got massively delayed (even before the pandemic) and by the time the gear was obtainable, the raid tier was essentially over.

I'm new to FFXIV and MMOs in general, is there a Kiwi FC or at least something aligned with the site? (doesn't need to be about the forums, just don't want to play with total freaks.)
Wary of joining all of these groups that make you join their cliquey Discord and call themselves a "family" or something.

I used the fellowship finder and saw a FC that advertised itself as being only for girls.
I was curious too see how many of them were AGP men and if their discord is just grooming central station.
There was also like five FC's advertising themselves as being for LGBTIQQA++ players and making it mandatory to join their degenerate discord

For various reasons, no. Tying your account to even a hint of the K*w*F*rms are just begging for trouble.

That said, your best bet is looking for FCs that are super casual to start with, and has none of the alphabet soup in their blurb.

Yeah any FC that makes discord mandatory is fucking shady. If I had to guess... Are you on Crystal? I know they're infested with that faggotry and people don't say anything in game (for obvious reasons) but everyone hates them and shits on the alphabet FCs in private.

Yeah, you're definitely right about that. And I'll probably find one eventually, just have to sift through the groomers.

No, I'm European and joined Light, and I've learned since then that Light is the EU equivalent of Crystal

Here's things you should look for in an FC:
1) Medium or large house that's decorated with things that aren't just stuff bought off the mogstation. This demonstrates long-term commitment.
2) High FC rank. It should be somewhere in the teens before expanding outside the initial founding group.
3) Mix of people who do hard endgame content and casuals. Hardcore only FCs are socially dead due to raidlogging and casual FCs will either treat you as their token hardcore guy or start getting pissy about you doing stuff they can't do.
4) 18+ (or preferably 25+). Seriously, no fucking kids.
5) Socialization in game. Discord is fine, but if an FC only talks on Discord, that's a major red flag.
6) Women. 100% serious. I'm not talking about hitting HR diversity quotas or whatever, but having a few unironic actual biological females mixed in is a bulwark against the prison gay degeneracy of autistic men. This is hard to pin down before joining, but if you notice there aren't really any true and honest wahmen in the FC after a month or two, you should make plans to leave before it becomes an AGP grooming den.

On the subject of Discord: This might be my NA bias showing, but I think being expected to join a Discord is fine. 90% of this game's player coordination and metacomms happen on Discord, and you're almost certainly going to be expected to join one if you don't want to PF all your endgame shit. Like I said in point 5 though, beware of groups that only ever socialize on Discord.

Sound advice. Also beware of lalafell only FC's. For reasons you can probably imagine.

You could make a KF linkshell, but there isn't a huge point because it turns out most of the Farms userbase is pretty antisocial. You've got the problem of trying to find people who will actually talk and fuck around with content (whatever that may be), finding them all on the same datacenter, and then -still- being paranoid that some lout will try to get in purely to screencap the naughty words you say in the linkshell.

You're quite seriously better off with a discord, and I mean that in the most negative way possible. GMs can't really verify that you said anything in the discord chats as opposed to just looking at logs of your linkshell, you could communicate more easily with people from other DCs, you don't run the risk of forgetting which linkshell you're typing into and saying retard to a bunch of retards, and you can groom each other to your heart's content while you slowly absorb the government tranny brain-waves - plus, you just make a discord account specifically for this server so you don't cross wires with the more normal discord crowd. If you tried to do any difficult content with people, you'd also have access to VC to do so with anyways so you can hear what virginity sounds like.

And doesn't that sound like an annoying pain in the ass? It's all a pain in the ass for not much upswing.

This is a giant laundry list. How about just socializing too much not in FFXIV?

I know one former poster from this thread. They were mentally unstable and blew up on me. Don't assume that because this is the farms that everyone is sane.

I just assume everyone is insane. A group of friends I've been gaming with for years were shocked when they learned I've never seen a therapist. Apparently that makes me the lunatic.
Size queen futanari and bears.
Based and cringe

I should hope people want to group up with other kiwis precisely to see how weird and strange the folks around here actually are, and specifically for hilariously embarrassing drama to explode out of nothing. But then, I like a good shitshow.

I'm just a retard who locked myself out of my old account and the email it was attached to, so I've been around the block. But it really shouldn't take very long around here at all to grasp that you shouldn't try to carve a social sphere out of a group of people known primarily across the internet for gossiping about and doxxxing fat mongoloids. I'm sympathetic to the fact that most of the FF14 playerbase is insufferable, sure, but it'd just be another flavor of faggotry leading up to a peanut gallery providing the knives and alcohol for deranged, mentally unsound chimps to stab each other with.
