On the topic of "anti science" both parties are guilty of side stepping actual science.
The left, using Greenpeaces "science" the past 50 years has been crying some sort of doomsday event will happen... like the Ozone layer will have huge holes in it and we will all fry by 1980. When that didn't happen, they cried some other doom n' gloom nonsense every 5 years. When 5 years had past.. they started another doom 'n gloom rumor. Maybe if the left pushed actual science ..the right might be inclined to listen. PS, there is almost nothing more the government can or should do regarding climate change. A carbon tax does literally nothing but take more money from peoples paychecks to fund another string of doom n' gloom predictions.
I could go further with real science but... extremists don't actively comprehend every single word.

My mom has always been a New Age spiritual type of person. She was a huge Bernie supporter in '16. After Trump won she became this weird fucking rightoid and it makes no sense. It’s funny because when you talk to her about general systematic problems, she clearly understands and experiences them as a disabled woman. However, by way of the aforementioned new age stuff, she is intensely anti-vax.
Since the pandemic, she has gone full blown conspiracy theorist and hangs out in anti-vax Facebook groups.

This happened in a surprising amount of alternative medicine groups that I follow out of curiosity.
It started out as natural ways you could help protect yourself from COVID-19. Last winter the anti-vaxxers came out in force and now there's a sizeable QAnon crossover for some reason. These are old-ass hippies who would sooner shit on Trump's grave than vote for him, so I have no idea how that happened.

I just got an earful from Stew (Literally Who) Peters. He was one of the radio hosts squawking about how the vaccine contains magnets. A short while ago he was happy liberals are still wearing masks because it makes it easier to avoid those "dirty, morbidly obese, disease-infested scum"; "They're the real lepers and they need to be treated as such."
But Stew was just warming up to his topic: now he has "scientific proof" FAA pilots have been stricken with bloods clots in mid-flight. I quote: "Maybe when enough PILOTS are DYING and PLANES are FALLING OUT OF THE SKY, those JOBS will be PHASED OUT!"
And that means Silicon Valley is involved. Yes, the vaccine is part of an effort to replace human pilots with A.I.

It's funny since conservatives shut down the anti-trust case against Microsoft. Any concerns from the public were waved away by his "charitable donations." Not sure what turned their bootlicking into fear. AFAIK Trump has never even mentioned Gates.

Trump tried to downplay Covid, so his disciples have always been against masks, lockdowns and Covid restrictions.
To Anti-Vaxxers Bill Gates has always been the devil because of the vaccination efforts of his foundation (Malaria etc.).
Anti-Vaxxers found an audience of gullible conspiracy theorists in the QAnon crowd, and for them it was a small step to go from being anti-mask to anti-vax, especially after the election when Q went silent and once Biden was in charge of vaccinations. It would have been interesting to see how things would have played out if Trump had won.
