I don't know what the consensus here is, but I'm leaning towards the theory that Phil didn't need any of this money for bills, he just needs it to stay competitive in WWE Champions. Moreover, I suspect that he really was hoping to make a only grand, and then just raised the goal to 1.5K to try and make it more likely the whales would carry him to his desired goal. He's likely annoyed that he didn't hit 1k, but I won't be surprised if he memoryholes this entire thing and doesn't make any sort of push to raise the tips goal over the next few days. I can easily be proven wrong though.

I think what he spends the money on isn't consequential. I think he spends a lot on WWE and he's got some liquid cash right now, he's not in danger of missing any bills. All of this nonsense going on right now is him thinking about how he used to make a lot more money, and he thinks he should still be making that same amount. So he's just trying to get back to that level of income. Nothing else matters, he doesn't give a shit if he's taking it from actual retarded people, he doesn't care if he lies to them.
