I do believe asmon has the same opinion as he has on stream, however he plays an over the top character that spends most of his time playing mmo's when doing so on stream.

Blizzard banning Hong Kong Overwatch players over basically doing the "world could always use more heroes" message Overwatch promotes was a sign. A sign that they have gone against what they once believed in as a developer. It's what made me stop playing their games. Though, Overwatch is the only Blizzard game I've ever played so far.

No one from the RTS Warcraft days is still there anymore. Some WoW community members got hired on but most were shuffled in by Activision. If you wanna get real mad, look up Jeff Kaplan and his EverQuest guild's impact on mmo development, and realize ActiBlizzard keeps putting him in charge of projects.

I believe Kaplan left ActiBlizz earlier this year. He also stopped having any involvement with WoW when the development of Titan (which became OW) began, which was around WotLK or Cata IIRC.
Not to say he hasn't done his fair share of damage, but that the damage stopped growing in size for WoW over a decade ago, and whilst OW was his from the conception and his mindset will likely be followed for it's future development, he's not continuing to directly cause any damage to current projects that serve to profit Kotick's shareholder overlords.
Regardless, I think shareholders and idiotic out of touch higher-ups have caused infinitely more damage than Kaplan. Ironically, WoW is grinder now than it ever was with Kaplan in a prominent position.

Two examples to tell you about the current state of how bad WoW GM's are.
1) Masterloot was removed from the game in Battle for Azeroth. It's all Personal Loot (think like the end of dungeon item rewards you get, but per boss and only a handful of people in the raid get it automatically given to them.) Asmongold's pet theory about why that change was made is so that they don't need to employ as many GM's to deal with loot issues.
2) AnnieFuschia, another Wow streamer now playing FFXIV told her own story of Blizzard refusing to do anything to help her. She is known for her completionism content. She's in the top 1-200 for achievement points in the game world wide. Anyways, she talks about how she had a dedicated group of people that would hunt her down non-stop when she was streaming Classic Wow, and would actively use her stream against her. They even went so far as to clip her stream during the kills and send them to her. She talks about it in the video below.

The quality of GM's has taken a gigantic nosedive since Pandaria.

Edit: Another example just today from /r/wow. A guy makes a group for a rare mount and advertises it in LFG. Group fills, and the people who don't get in mass report him triggering an automatic silence/ban. This is his convo with a GM.

Now that the forum's staying mostly stable for the time being, I got a bit curious about something and I wonder if anyone else here would know more if this is a thing that might be starting to happen with a little more frequency:

I got thrown into a Cutter's Cry run with the Levelling Roulette and the healer I had was genuinely fucking useless. Like, legitimately just stood there, weapon sheathed, during trash pulls and threw out not a single heal or even did anything whatsoever to do damage. I think we all dropped a handful of times to negligible, one-at-a-time trash mobs because this healer absolutely refused to do anything. The only time this healer decided to actually start playing the game instead of just playing "follow the Tank" was during bossfights, in which they proceeded to do the bare minimum of spam a heal on me every so often as my health dropped. No one bothered to say anything to them about this, and I also really didn't feel like being "that asshole" (especially not with how report-happy most of the playerbase is at this point), so I waited until we hit the second boss, where the healer immediately ate shit because they refused to heal through the DoT applied to them and then refused to move away from the worm's burrowing mechanic. Once we inevitably wiped, I finally decided to start a votekick and, thankfully, the two DPS were on board with removing the shitter and we got a good healer to replace them about 3 minutes later.

With the story told, the thing I was wondering about is whether or not that player might've been somehow botting? I vaguely recall running into players obviously running some kind of automated script or something in levelling dungeons in the past, but that was years ago. Unless they were really that much of a lazy, petty shitter that they didn't feel inclined to do anything whatsoever unless we were in a boss fight, and even then, not even the bare minimum? I'd believe it if that were the case, but usually I've found those types of shitters tend to be more inclined towards running their mouths off rather than staying dead silent like that healer I had was doing.

This is a late ass reply and sorry about that, although I can attest that there's been an influx of bots in dungeons lately and I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are blending in the surge of newcomers and refugees, but it ain't like what it was in ARR where it was a bot on every corner just doing shouts.
