Rate Your Music / RYM / Sonemic - Music-themed Autism Magnet with a serious troon / pseud infestation

I got curious and looked up the esteemed Warlord of CHAZ, Raz Simone, on RYM and discovered some enlightening comments.

As for the user complaining about their warlord, here's their userpage, dunno what's up with them, you be the judge.

The best thing about RYM is that every time an artist gets into a scandal people go back and downvote their release while leaving their ever-important takes.

Here's the comment box for some of Danny Sexbang's stuff given the recent accusations.

Oh and for some reason, the Jontron cover of Fireworks has an entry and the comment box is terrible as you'd expect.

Apologies for necroing, but I wanted to discuss something.
https://rateyourmusic.com/~gamzee This is “Gwen Power”, a personal lolcow of mine and one of the most repulsive people I’ve had the displeasure of watching grow.

They are a Faegender, therian transgender communist, borderline death fat, and leader of a shitty shoegaze band called floral tattoo.

They have performed at multiple festivals as of late, notably Mechafest and Magmafest.
They released a collaberation album with abusive troon psycho Melissa, who you might remember for making an album about internet drama with ugly troon patrician taxxon.

The entire scene surrounding them “5th wave emo” is a massive laughing stock that I’ve talked about briefly in my posts in other threads.

Here's a list where some guy freaks out because he thinks NSBM is gonna brainwash kids into being violent misanthropic nazis, it's pretty entertaining

I have an RYM account and I never participated in the forums, for only I’ve lurked on them. Overall, most of the politics and gay rights infestation of the site doesn’t really represent the user base as a whole, since I know on 4chan’s /mu/ board that they mock the idea of Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp and Butterfly and Radiohead’s first few albums to be the greatest thing to ever come out in music.

Still, between this and bandcamp, there’s not a lot of sites like RYM that are actively existing as far as music lists are concerned. Only thing that could come close to it would be Discogs, since they still value physical CD and vinyl collecting.

I started using RYM recently because I love any site that lets me autistically log things, and I was not expecting a site with a layout that makes it feel like it'd mostly be used by old rock dads to be so infested. The amount of people who go out of their way to listen to music they hate just so they can write 10 paragraph reviews analyzing, like, Lana Del Rey lyrics for white supremacist subtext is hilarious.

I haven't been active for years, but from what I can tell the "rock dads" used to be one of the big groups on the site along with aging metalheads and hipsters. In the mid-10s the latter group morphed into the blue haired tumblr SJWs we've come to know and absolutely exploded in size and proportion of the website's userbase. Plus I think it's a generational thing too with zoomers in general invading the site just like millennials made up the teenage part of the userbase back before 2010. And political zoomers like the Twitter K-Pop types are just fucking weird.
I didn't know that guy died. He was there forever. Sucks to be him, especially since he liked the new updates which to me look like the usual mobile-focused web design popular these days.

The owner has prostate cancer while having to deal with the overwhelming cancer from LGBT and SJW types that are injecting their personal politics while writing reviews about why Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar are better than Frank Zappa?

Even I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy
He wasn't the owner, he was just one of the admins (basically a super-jannie) and a long-time member and apparently pretty popular.
https://rateyourmusic.com/~sharifi - This is the owner, Hossein Sharifi. Looks like most of his posts are a mix of moderating his website and explaining to people why it works the way it does and how it will work in the future.

Most children in my family & general friend circle listen to Baby Shark, a fuckton of Radio Rock & Pop
& the older kids to teenagers listen to Radio Pop, Alt Pop, Trap, Modern Rap, Pop Punk, & again a fuckton of Radio Rock

They’d probably hear NSBM & think
“What the fuck is this garbage sounding Screamo Death Metal, I wanna listen to Lil Nas X.”
I don’t think that guy has anything to worry about in youth becoming National Socialist from some random lo-fi (shit sounding) European Skinhead band that records their music in a shoebox under a highway.
& if a kid becomes NatSoc because they heard one Nokturnal Mortum song, I think they have MANY other underlying issues.

I haven't checked out RYM in years and was inspired so after reading this thread and it's sad to see how far downhill it's gone. It used to be a hipster site and now it's a full blown SJW site. Most of the new reviews from the past few years have nothing to do with the actual music and are about snowflake identity politics. Many of the reviews are literally about nothing (meme reviews written like Twitter posts that say nothing about the album at all) that would be considered trolling on there years ago. Many classics from the past are being flooded with reviews from people who are suddenly offended by the lyrics because they're written from the perspective of "cisgender men" or whatever. Their opinions also seem very influenced by Fantano and some of them even write like him. These people destroy any community that lets them in.

someone should do a sociological evaluation of why the english language RYMers are so much dumber and more pretentious than the ESL ones (not saying they are so bright. it’s all relative). you don’t see anywhere near the # of manifestos with misused jargon big words in portuguese or whatever

i’ll need to come across them again as i find them, but you will see a fair amount of « multicultural » dipshits writing their magnum opus on albums and lyrics whose language they don’t speak even a word of but they still manage to vomit out a couple paragraphs per song about how poetic coeur de pirate probably is. i am so much better than everyone i know because i listen to obscure shit that i find totally incomprehensible. it’s easier not to worry about pitchfork denouncing your wrong opinion if it’s all gibberish anyways. « Rosalia is the soul of spain… » declares furfag who has never left duluth
