Since 2021, he has been going on presumably hundreds of Discord servers related to music. He has been using many alts in order to circumvent bans. I now believe that he deserves his own thread.

Yeah. They do. They want to work the way wikipediaworks against one's favor of the subject. So I decided to ban them from adding my artist profile.

I just find the whole database system a clusterfuck of headaches, which soured me on contributing to the site. They'll always whine at you for not voting on other profiles, as if I have time to read through a bunch of sources to do the mod's jobs for them. They bitch about you not inserting every little thing in whatever profile or album you're adding. Like I remember I just wanted to upload album art once and some jannie yelled at me for not adding the tracklisting and exact length of the songs. And then the time for it to get approved is insanely inconsistent. I had profiles sit there for weeks, and then I've had profiles rejected because I didn't respond to a jannie's demands within 8 hours.

It is every bit as autistic as Wikipedia, but somehow worse because they don't even make a pretense of being welcoming.

They also have had their 3.0 site in the works for a decade now and only implemented the bare minimum of their beta into the actual site. This is what they crowdfunded to the tune of over 100K IIRC.

In 2016, a musician named Phil Elverum released an album known as "A Crow Looked At Me" about his process of greiving after his wife dying of cancer. At some point a /mu/ user known as me&me (who was active in 2016-2017) relased a parody album called "playdough cooked in tea" where he lackadaisically strums an acoustic guitar and mutters things about how sad he is that his wife died, but it's all good because he gets album of the year. Now, I won't even lie - this is a pretty dick move. Shitting on some dude for losing his wife to cancer is a weird thing to be this antagonistic about, and it's an even weirder thing to make a shitty parody about. But at the end of the day, this album is bait. It's designed to make people enraged because this anonymous rando is taking the piss out of someone losing his wife to cancer. The problem is RYM users don't know how to not take bait.

Like I said earlier, it's not that the anger isn't justified. The problem is that you're going out of your way to listen to something you KNOW is going to make you MATI, you're wasting your time listening to music that you know is going to ruin your day instead of trying to find something you might like, and you're wasting even more time writing essays about how this album made you want to jump in a paper shredder.

Coleman Gariety, the admin who runs Topsters 2 (AKA NeverEndingChartRendering) has gone full metal schizo and demands people to stop listening to "satanic music" like The Beatles and demands people to listen to Gregorian Chants instead. Unfortunately this has been a long time coming.

Topsters was essentially used by people from /mu/ and RYM to create neat looking charts of their favorite music in image format they can easily share around.

Coleman is also noted for their obsession with the German philosopher Hegel (who nobody gives a fuck about) and constantly tried to advertise their boring hegelsbagels blog to Topsters users' faces.

Hopefully none of the NMH comment boxes get closed. IMO the closing of comment boxes when someone does something heckin problematic is the gayest thing about the whole site, which really says something. Not that there's anything too important in them to begin with but the gesture just comes off as incredibly lame and power-trippy. If only mods could just ban the faggots who shit them up with speculation about the artist's personal life or political viewpoints, but that would be way too much work because the site's been totally overrun by zoomer troons and they love to do that the most.

Just giving a certain album like a 0.5/5) or removing descriptor ratings on albums that are prone to that type of stuff (any Against Me! album is a good example, I don’t know if they’ve changed it because I deleted my account but the last time I checked the tags “male vocals” and “androgynous vocals” would always pop in and out of the album descriptors for all of their music, even the music they put out before the leader singer trooned out and when he clearly sounded like a guy) to prevent “trolling” or “brigading” or something like that.
