This was a network revised script. We don't know what was added and removed by the network before they gave it the stamp of approval to begin filming.

I'm not saying he should be relegated to type casting but...they couldn't afford Denzel Washington or some shit?

I mean at this point this live action shit should be more comedic because who asked for a dark and gritty deconstruction of the Powerpuff girls. People liked the original show for being this fun violent action series while this reboot treats it like some kiddy shit where the Powerpuff girls were never shown to be flawed. So Donald glover would fit if it were more faithful at being a continuation to the source material.

I hate to be that guy, but they actually cast Donald Faison as Utonium. Faison is also best known for his role in a comedy (Scrubs) so you still make a good point. I don't know what else he was in off the top of my head, but I can't imagine Scrubs being the only comedic title in his filmography.

(Also, possible PL: I'd chide whoever in this thread first asserted that Donald Glover was playing Utonium, but while doing a quick search for this post, I discovered I mistakenly believed Faison was on that Psych show a while back. So I guess we both got our black actors mixed up. Whoops.)

Right? What year was that supposed to take place in? Because that's some late 90's/early 2000's cringe, and it was cringe even when it was "popular".

It also has no place in this script. Even if the point is that Bubbles is living in the past and won't grow up (I think that's where they're going), unless this show is set about a dozen years back, that seems like a saying that would be before her time with them only being 25.

Nah. Then the script might be fun. This is more like people high on their own farts writing something they think is progressive, but is actually surprisingly racist in its depictions. Like I said before, deconstruction like this can be really fun and interesting to watch, but only if you're not some egotist who believe everyone who disagrees with you is just flat out wrong and needs to be educated.

I'm actually surprised they wrote a black man stealing from a white man, and then have that same white man think "Maybe its because I'm white!?" Mainly because showing a white guy getting shit on and bringing race into it legitimizes the white guys point and makes the black guy look like scum, something these writers would be against.

How much you bet they blame it on mind control or some shit so the black guy can be innocent?

That'd be a hard sell given if I read the script correctly, the professor originally wanted to use Chem X on himself to become superpowered Elon Musk.

As in, that is literally how the script describes it, right down to the use of Musk's name.

Actually there was mind control in the original cartoon: one episode had Mojo Jojo use a mind control ray to turn all of Townsville to hate and rage at the girls, breaking their hearts
