Just yesterday I found out that Butterfinger teamed up with square to give out mounts if you buy $5 worth of butterfinger bars. I only found this out because of someone made a dumb video on it

I know I'm a bit late to this but I wanted to join in on shitting on EU players in general, as this statement brought in some flashbacks. I spent time on a japanese server at launch before I hit the NA servers in 2013 when servers were constantly full after launch. It was a toss up of NA, EU, Aussie and Singapore players. My overall experience with the Aussies and Singapore players was fine. I cannot say the same for EU players. Half of the English guys were fine, plenty of them were fucking stupid. In terms of FFXIV the same could be said about NA players so I guess that doesn't mean much.

I ran into several French. I did not meet one french player that didn't fucking suck. French tank? Lol, have fun pulling hate if you were a dps doing aoe, because that retard wasn't going to attack more than one. French dps? Your tank and healer will make them look bad. As far as being twats? I only got along with one that was in my FC at that time. But I got to the point where I just would avoid him like other shitty players that wanted to run things because he was pants on head terrible at the game and refused to hit up a guide so he wouldn't shit up Binding Coil for everyone else.

I should have saved the poop jokes that came out of this ad campaign that I saw on social media in general, you might get some entertainment hitting up a search function on Twitter for butter finger and ffxiv. I passed on the whole thing, poop colored plant mount isn't enticing enough.

EU is has people from all over the place, of whom most you interact with speak mostly english anyway, so you'd never know really. all in all it wouldn't be the same without some crazy slav/nordic antics/banter and some southern euros to get butthurt about.
and for something anecdotal, US guilds seem to be a lot more prone to drama and retardation than "english" eu guilds with lot of different nationalities you learn to deal with eventually. but that's just my impression.

Did I ever mention at some point ITT that one of the first French players I ever had the displeasure of being partied with tanked for a Brayflox queue? And that I still have horrible flashbacks to the experience?

I think they were on Paladin, and they played almost exactly as you described – only pulling one ENEMY at a time, let alone one mob, and if the one enemy was tied to a mob's aggro (as is usually the case in dungeons), this little baguette-munching shit possessed no concept whatsoever of using Flash to generate AoE Aggro (just to give you an idea of how long ago this happened. Way, way back in the early 2.0 days), so he would only attack the ONE enemy the entire time and good luck to everyone else. They also did not seem to understand the concept of floor DoTs, or enemy AoEs in general, because they would stand in every single one. So much so that we wiped multiple times on the last boss of Brayflox because this mouthbreather just kept standing in the boss' poison AoEs. They wouldn't MOVE the boss out of the AoEs either, so the boss was constantly regenerating health. They would not even seem to acknowledge our simplified English and auto-translate phrases telling them what to do either, so we eventually reached the point where the healer decided to let the Frenchie drop dead and stay dead, and then had me, on Dragoon, take over as Tank. And it worked. And Frenchie seemed none too pleased that I did his job for him.

I bet that asshole put some kind of French curse on me as well because ever since then, every single levelling run I do of Brayflox as a DPS always goes horribly.

Fair enough, definitely won't argue on the drama shit when it comes to US guilds, and I'd caution anyone to think twice about joining a large FC because it seems tard drama is almost assuredly going to happen. For EU players I should have been more specific, my experience consists of mainly French and Brits. Brits I was kind of 50/50, I'd meet one that was reasonable, then another that was an ignorant cock that couldn't be told anything. The french players can get fucked.

Oh boy, I remember those golden days. You get a tank that's too stupid to use Flash back then? Lol, have fun with that shit. It was months before they finally implemented the fucking vote kick feature. Brayflox is a bad dungeon - not in design, I liked it fine when the tank I got wasn't a paint sniffing fuckwit. But that's always a good risk in FFXIV. Your french friend was most likely well aware of your auto translate and gave 0 fucks, and wanted to do what the fuck he wanted, a common excuse you'll see on arguments on the cesspool that is FFXIV Official Forums.

"I play for fun." If I hear someone utter that phrase, I am certain they can't dps/tank/heal their way out of a nutsack and it's a carry. The upside on being on the JP server? I ended up clicking the language options for Duty Finder to Japanese only parties. More often than not, that worked in getting me into strictly Japanese groups, and it was rare when a JP party in DF sucked. Wish I could say the same for NA servers.

"I play for fun" is the bane of my fucking existence and became such back during the days where Labyrinth of the Ancients was the ONLY 24-man raid available, and you could legit spend over an hour wiping on the very first boss because half the raid didn't want to learn mechanics, expected everyone else to pick up the slack for them, and cried "I PLAY FOR FUN" as their excuse for why they couldn't understand the simple notion of "PULL THE FUCKING SKELETONS TO THE FARTHEST PLATFORM AND KILL THEM THERE. AND KILL THEM QUICK WHEN THEY GET BACK UP OR ELSE WE ALL EAT SHIT AND DIE."

Which is glossing over ALL THE OTHER PARTS of Labyrinth that the entire raid could get stuck and waste over an hour on because mechanics have always been anathema to the average "I PLAY MY WAY, YOU DON'T PAY MY SUB" shitter, especially back in the old days.

the mount is basically a re-skin of the previous collector edition mount
 
finally maiming is for something else besides drg. i'm pretty excited for reaper it looks fun to play, i just hope it's not like 100% all positionals and if you miss just one your dps is garbage
