Maybe they could adapt the manga adaptation which was straight up shoujo which features Blossom’s love interest who is a pretty boy soccer player.

there are quite a few mahou shoujo parodies out there tho, and everything else inbetween. don't know the numbers but after isekai it seems to be the second favorite setup to use.

Poor Craig McCracken. Dude has to be one of the most unlucky people in animation right now to have one of his creations desecrated like this time and time again.

Did Genndy work on Foster's?
Then again, back when Dexter's Lab and the original PPG were both on he and Craig would work on each other's shows, so I can't imagine he himself is the happiest camper about CN/Warner/whoever not letting PPG stay dead.

My mistake I confused the two I stand corrected. But whatever the case, the network has most of the say, including the company that owns them since CW is Warner or something they have more creative power of any IP. And since Turner is with Time Warner, like Mike Graham said when WCW was around Warner hates lawsuits and controversy. Let’s be grateful Maxwell Atom’s works or even Antonucci’s work hasn’t been revived as they might get a makeover as their humor is kinda problematic in this day and age.

I either read it wrong or I'm misremembering, but I kinda thought it got too meta at the end by revealing the soccer player was the mangaka's self-insert or he wasn't real or something like that.

Nah, Johnny Test was more "What if Dexter was a girl, there was 2 of them, while Dee Dee was an annoying blond kid with an ego problem and he was the main character." seriously..how did that tripe even last for six seasons.

It had been ages since I read it and thought it was boring, but I remembered something near the end about a male mangaka making a shoujo manga about the PPG only to reveal he made a self-insert to date Blossom and she got mad about it. It got weirdly meta.
