I miss the early days in a way. The GMs didn't have a hard on for anyone making jokes as long as it wasn't too hard over the line. They didn't give a shit about cursing either. I used to be able to bait people into anger, and back then, the GMs gave 0 shits if said person reported you and they actually started sperging first. Funny, because in FFXIV, to invite said sperging, all you have to do is give basic fucking advice on playing a job so they'll suck less, and the Reeee-ing will commence. I was fine with it because then I got to clown them with no repurcussions.

Now? I got one warning for ripping on a floor mop of a dancer that was being a whiney faggot, making jokes about needing a back doctor for carrying his ass and how his dps was about as dangerous as a whiffle bat, etc. Then I got a 3 day suspension over some stupid ass joke and I wasn't even insulting anyone. Just someone else in the party who didn't like it and they just reported me. I'm not too worried about it, I rarely engage with anyone anymore regardless outside of the folks I play with. But not letting fine, classy gentlemen like myself cyber bully troons and the like when they act like their shit don't stink, it's hard to keep myself in check.
Back in the day on Coeurl, the easiest way to piss off most people, especially the hardcore raiders, was to clown around in high end raid content and STILL manage to clear things anyway – even if you might cause really dumb wipes every now and then. And to also tell the hardcore raid celebrities to "lol calm down" when they start sperging about it.

That was basically how my friends and I made a name for ourselves in 2.x on the server, by being absolute clowns who could still manage to hang with the big boy, big dick raiders.

Hell, we all had spammable macros for the biggest whiners. Might powerlevel a bit here, but one of my friends had a macro that spammed "Good job playing like you're fucking 2" in party chat. I recall also getting some mileage out of a couple of emoji macro that said "MY BACK HURTS FROM CARRYING YOU" and "YOU ARE BEING CARRIED, DO NOT BE ALARMED".

I miss those days. Just good, honest fun and baiting raiders into sperging out.

Ngl, I think the huge macros saying "You're welcome for the carry" or "get carried" are hilarious. I usually reply with a "Thanks, fam." And then they give me the look of approval.
That said, it's funny if the player's decent. It's less funny if they greyparse and still try to lord it over the rest.

I will always be thankful for the people carrying my casual "I'm just here for the story but these dungeons are required" ass.

Dragonsong War (Ultimate) got pushed back from 5.55 (May) to 6.1 (probably December/January) because of COVID. The tryhard turbofaggots are already on suicide watch (just trawling through the subreddits gets a lot of "hurts" and "feels" from that crowd as though it's a personally targeted affront).

Something had to give due to the work from home restrictions (Ultimates require a lot of collaboration, both in design and playtesting) and it apparently came down to the expansion itself or the Ultimate (Yoshi-P even asked the team if they could do some crunch to make both work and they said no), but of course that won't stop the turbos whining because "EXPLORER MODE AND OCEAN FISHING STOLE OUR ULTIMATE", totally missing the point that even if those features did (they didn't) it'd be completely worth it in the calculus of player participation.

I'm so glad I play this for the RPG aspect and not the MMO aspect. My main petty concerns out of the announcements boil down to "guess I gotta re-meld my Fending and brush up on PLD rotation", since I run MSQ on my main as whatever the Derplander is.

To absolutely no one's surprise, even lol hardcore raiders like Xenosys Vex are positively SEETHING right now. (Archive just in case the retard catches some heat and tries to delete it later.)

"I can't believe the CASUALS didn't get fucked over instead of us HARDCORE RAIDERS. No I'm not mad because SE didn't deliver what I wanted them to, because COVID or something. I'm just mad because SE didn't deliver what I wanted them to. I'm ENTITLED to be pissed that I, personally, got sidelined and I literally cannot play XIV for anything else but muh newest and hardest edick-measuring contest."

EDIT: Just noticed this bit of gold right here.

The duality of the raid celebrity. (Third one added because, holy shit, the SEETHE never ends.)

Good thing Yoshi-P and his staff has shown no sign of kow-towing. Seethe more, e-cucks.

Woah people are actually mad? I thought it was just a meme. Then again what did I expect from the same people who think mahjong took up serious resources?

Honestly, that entire Twitter thread with Xeno and all the replies to it are a golden salt mine.

Hardcore raiders are such entitled children. "We always get the short-changed when it comes to raid content in XIV! Yoshida never picks prioritizing us at the expense of the casuals! He PROMISED ULTIMATE IN 5.3!"

Like the shitstorm wouldn't be twice as big and loud if the casuals actually did get passed over so raiders could have their one piece of super hardcore content. And even then, it's clearly not enough since you've got people in those replies crying "We should have 12 Extreme mode fights and Savages, and 3 Ultimates each expansion!"

Was talking about it earlier with another friend of mine and he recounted how it was either Ultima Online or Everquest 1 (he couldn't remember which exactly) he saw go under due to the devs prioritizing the needs of the hardcore raid community over the general playerbase.

EDIT: Decided to see how the official forums were coping with the news. Saw a few fun responses there as well.

Somewhat moderate, until this individual continues replying to thread.

Because, yes, further delays to a singular piece of content is just as egregious as Cyberpunk 2077's release and Blizzard becoming ultrajews, as well as being a sign of a shifting Overton window towards Yoshida and the dev team trying to milk as much money as they can out of the very small percentage of people who even attempt, let alone clear, Ultimates.

It doesn't even surprise me at this point that being a "serious" player of FFXIV requires not only a sense of entitlement, but also a certain degree of schizophrenia as well.

I mean...

Hardcore raiders only make up a fraction of the playerbase of this game.
Sure, let's forsake 88% of the people who play this game to favor and prioritize the very small minority. Like SE would ever fucking do that. They want money and they like money so of course they'll prioritize the regular non e celeb shmucks who play because having a wider range of people subscribed equals more money. It's basic fucking company practices that literally everyone does. It wouldn't make sense for them to put everything else behind just to pander to some entitled retards. You don't like the hardcore in the game or feel they are not giving you fair treatment, there's the door. Nothing is keeping you subscribed. Feel free to unsub and try something else. I get annoyed by people who stick around only to bitch and complain at every fucking opportunity and then try to mask their bitching under some thin veil of "Oh I'm just critiquing the game and the devs because I want this game to improve because I like it."

No, that's horseshit because you're not thinking about the game, you're thinking about yourself. You're thinking about what you want, what you think people want which is just more of what you want. Don't sit there and be a disingenuous cunt and pretend like you're trying to help out the game when you're just out to help yourself and your cocksucking friends try to push out everyone else.

Pretty bummed out that there's no ultimate since I was looking to see what they could do with Thordan since that fight and it's EX version were well designed. I wish people would get annoyed at the real issues like how badly designed Bojza content is where getting into the Castrum is nigh impossible because a week or two later after its release, they let FATEs drop coins and other shit.

The new 24-man raid is an alliance raid with NONE of the function of a 24-man alliance. There's no alliance menu, you can't swap jobs where you can swap around your logos actions so you can possibly get fucked by team comp and have to leave. You can't refill people who leave during the raid so you're down a body permanently and if you're in savage, disconnecting and coming back brings you dead for some reason but the Yoshida apologists who are as big of speds as people like Xeno will defend literal broken design because "Yoshi-P can do no wrong."

Man, as much as I shit on the lower end of the casual players, I forget what insufferable twats the really hardcore players could be. I never cared for Xeno. Sure, his videos could be helpful I guess. I remember some sort of incident with him and his healer back in 2015 when he kept dying in Ravana Ex when that was a thing. He kept dying and bitching out his healer on stream and I think the healer said something along the lines of "I'm out, you're not that fucking good, good luck finding a healer to deal with your shit". Apparently they worked it out. I might be wrong about it, it was years ago.

I can get why raiders would be upset at no Ultimate but holy shit at the salt. Of course Square is going to aim their focus at what's getting played more, and it isn't Ultimates. Hardcore raiding is a dying breed, probably because most of us are adults and can't be on that shit for hours to be super elite and shit. Also, @Gravemind is correct in regards to hardcore players being huge babies. Much like that little faggot that clutches his pearls anytime a parser is brought up because he knows he'll be outed for hitting like a noodle, hardcore raiders are high off their own farts, being incredibly full of themselves. I've watched Endgame FC's, good established ones, fall apart at the dumb shit going on between them. Stick to casual/midcore raid groups, kids. You don't want that headache.

Also for those of you who did not see:

Not really my thing but I'm only missing 2 out of the 7 so I might as well get it just to satisfy my collector's itch.

It's also sad to watch people do those savage raids and what not and they literally tear each other part when things go wrong because they get frustrated and angry. They put on this air like if they all get along, but the second something goes south and tensions get high, you have some people completely lose their shit and act super unhinged. It's just a game, bruh.

And honestly, if messing up mechs triggers you so hard that you smash your keyboard and stress yourself out of it, then maybe savage raiding isn't for you nor should you do it or your hair will fall out and you'll look 90ish at the age of 35. Take a break. Relax, have a drink, watch something, take a walk.

You savage raiders are honestly the most autistic fucking people on the planet.

So, if crossing from server to server is allowed, can we finally make Kiwi FC?
Or at least put up a party once in a while?
I'd love to be in a linkshell with all you guys.
Finally a place where I can talk without a filter. I can just let my real self fly.

Oh, my heart sings.

Funny we get a PLD expansion when I'd gotten tired of DRK and went back to PLD. Time to let the Confiteors fly.

mecha-dragon is totally my shit and I will force myself to get the last 3 gwibers to get it

Jesus, that thing looks cool as fuck.

I might actually have a reason to run content now.

How is PLD compared to the other tanks from a gameplay perspective?

>When you discover than all the prejudice and memes about players from Moogle are real

:stress:

Probably one of the worst session I've had with this game since I started during HW

I ended up doing raid leader shit when I played more regularly a few years back. More midcore shit. I still talk to all the people I run with. Almost, the ones I didn't tell to get the fuck out because they started acting like what you and Gravemind talked about. I didn't put hard rules on. Only time I might have dismissed someone was because they didn't know their job and refused to improve (Subpar dps), or they were constantly late for stupid shit and not bothering to even tell me (IE: "I was only 45 minutes late and made everyone else wait because I was playing League of Legends bro why didn't you wait for me?!)

But that shit rarely happened. I only had to do that to like 3-4 people over a good few years. As far as fight mechanics? Yeah, we're gonna die a fuck ton learning it. Not in a hurry to clear it. I just came back to the game maybe a month ago and right after that a buddy had me join their casual raid, it's only four hours a week. My only gripe is I need to git gud. Only 2 clears on 9 savage and I died on both, and I'm grey parse as fuck lol.
