💼 Careercow Donald J Trump - 45th/47th President of the USA, convicted felon, Epstein bro, Putin/Netanyahu simp, serial liar, sore loser, cheat and the Chris-Chan of Presidents. Lost a war to Iran and algae. THIS IS NOT USPG2.

Honestly I could see him running again in 2024, especially if there's a large amount of evidence of voter fraud which isn't just spurious accusations by rabid Trump supporters.

Not sure what his odds of winning would be, because I think the novelty is beginning to wear out. (The fact that Biden had a female VP may have also helped him, since now that Hillary is a persona non grata, it's the closest that voters who wanted a female president could get).

I hope the Don gets some nice MyPillows in jail.

Except there's not. He will likely end up impeached by the Senate and be unable to run
Yeah I doubt that will happen unless they're in for a 3 year long trial which biden will kick the bucket halfway through. What they did was political faggotry because they shit their pants when a bunch of lolbertarians marched up to their doorstep

They pushed through impeachment in a week and the senate stopped it. if it were to be a real deal impeachment where he would never run again, you need armies of lawyers on both sides and it would be a drawn out slog.

He can run but that’s about it. He is persona non grata to the GOP and the rules for the 2016 primaries have been rewritten to prevent him winning through 2016 tactics (funny enough, they were rewritten after 2012 so an unpopular guy like Jeb could win). He could run as an independent but the second he does, both parties will sue to kick him off the ballot. Not only that but Trump is too lazy to construct an organization that he’d have to build from scratch.

There’s no real upside for him to run again. He will be a distant memory three years from now. What’s left of the mainstream right is going to pretend he was a blip and a punch line. By 2024, he will be considered the pet rock of politicians, a “you had to be there in 2015-2016 to understand” type of deal.

Honestly, given how much AstroTurfed outrage there was toward Trump from the start (not from serious politicos, but irrelevant talking heads like Colbert and Bill Maher), I'll tend to be skeptical as to when and why his popularity will die out, especially given the Democrat landslide predictions in both elections which never happened.

Old boy is getting impeached. Dems have the simple majority and I can see Republicans defecting to save face from the dumpster fire of the 6th. The Supreme Court won't overturn. People still clinging to daddy for a 2024 comeback are full blown retarded.

He bet big, talked big, delivered little, and lost everything. Winning in the bigly sense.

I think his clumsy power play over the last few weeks fucked him on this point. Assuming he didnt die of old age He could have ran if he's actually done what he was supposed to and allow the rumours to simmer. But now it's clear his interest in voter fraud plays second to his desire to be president undermines the fuck out off him.

Didn't they just pause the filing because if they did it, it would have delayed Biden's inauguration? They can still finish it later.

If one single thing was weird about the inauguration (besides all the security,) especially if it was bumped a week or two, who knows what the Q-tards would take that to mean and what kind of shit they would pull.

I think they delayed it because of the inauguration, and I also think Mitch didn't want to impeach a sitting president from his own party a few days from the inauguration, too. Mitch is a fuckin' scumbag but he's a sly, clever scumbag

It's on pause but the articles will be sent soon. It's unprecedented to impeach someone already removed from office or think that they could convict in a timely manner. If they wanted to get this done it would be wise to do it asap given recent events.

It would take time on the Senate floor to do the hearings, which gets the way of appointing and confirming Biden's various nominations.

However, it seems like someone has floated the idea of running them in parallel with strict time limitations.

2/3 of the Senate needs to approve his impeachment. That’s a tall order, especially for any Republican up for re-election in 2022 or any Republican ambitious enough to want to run for President in 2024. They may hate Trump but without his former base, they have no shot. I think anything especially traitorous is going to rub a good chunk of voters the wrong way, even if Trump is the pet rock of politics.

The media won't let him be a distant memory. The GOP would be stupid to ignore why people voted for Trump. They aren't exactly popular themselves. Demonizing Trump and his supporters are just going to split their ticket if any third party movement gets traction. Plus, you have to wonder what Biden-then-Harris will do in the next 4 years. Will they push hard to the Left? Republicans have shown they don't have the balls to stand up to them, and a conviction in the Senate would just prove that.

I'm pessimistic enough to think America as we know it wouldn't exist in 4 years for Trump or someone like him to run.

Basically the idea with this impeachment would be that you only need a simple majority to bar someone from ever holding public office again in the United States, once the 2/3rds majority has agreed that yes, he’s guilty. Mitch is going to attempt to drag this out forever though, to hold up any potential legislation he can and also because the further away from 1/6 it gets, the less likely Trump is to be convicted in the first place. McConnell doesn’t care either way really at this point. He’s got what he wanted and is laser focused on 2022.

Biden has already been writing executive orders like fucking crazy and has undone basically everything Trump did in 4 years in a matter of hours. If Biden does anything more than simple EO and actually gets some of this shit written in to law by working with the rest of the democrats, which Trump never did with republicans because he thought he was CEO of America and just wanted to sign off on shit, then it’s just going to make Trump look even more ineffectual and useless.
