Drop the game for another few months if there isn't something I give half a shit to grind.
Pretty much. And when you're done raiding, you drop the game until the next raid/battle content, because you already have the best gear so there's no point in grinding whatever other shit if you're not into crafting.

I always manage to find some new stuff to grind. Whether it's crafting, gathering, or running an extreme in PUGs over and over again until I get the mount because the hatred I have for myself burns with the power of a thousand, thousand suns.

I'm a retard.

same, i still have a few classes i need to max out and instead of buying the skips i’m just grinding through them.
I have no idea how you and Dopey Cunt manage to do it. I try leveling a job, get bored, and then just play new games.

You can spend your time looking at ffxiv twitter, and the amount of retarded raiders who have been whining for +6 months about "no content" and "I'm glad I'm not subbed to this game" crawling back to give Square their money. It's entertaining I assure you.

I'm actually pretty hyped to do the new Aquapolis with the buds. They wanna do emerald ex and titan unreal too.

Funny enough all of them are WoW refugees so this'll be their first time experiencing ARR extreme up to scale.
I can already taste the 6 point landslide flashbacks I'm gonna have.

Happy patch day.

I got the minion on the third run of the new dungeon, won my placing in Feast top 100 so i got my mount, title, and enough collars to buy my new weapon glamour.

Emerald is fucking nuts and the whole storyline is batshit crazy

MSQ is good.

Void Quest line is good

Doing raids with the static later tonight blind, and maybe hit some E9S if we finish soon.

WoW refugees are hanging out in Shadowlands, they will be back in 1-2 weeks with more to complain and trash about.

mother porxie is probably my favorite dungeon boss now.

The MSQ was good up until... I guess I'll call it the 'diplomacy' arc. That felt really contrived.

Other captain: This lady I trust with my life, she'll be the one to steer us into a bright new future.

Merlwyb like 5 minutes later:

In general, I'd describe what I've seen so far (both Eden and the MSQ) are good, but VERY tightly packed. Feels like too much wasn't properly covered in the patches before this, and now they're rushing to make up the time now that the main characters are back in Eorzea and can Do Things.

Still, what I've done is fun:

Eden's Promise bosses are:
- vivid alliance roulette flashback
- the most heckin' of doggos
- Ryne's Daddy Issues
- Crazy Ex Boyfriend fuses into a many-titted broccoli monster

But so far, the winner of the expac is Matoya's Relict, specifically the theme. It's got a lot of cartoony witch lair charm to it:

Well I'm certainly getting Banjo-Kazooie vibes from listening to that. Can't wait!

Now that I've finished the MSQ, why should I care about Fenadiel and Zenos? I'm not sold on the anime action schlock these two are going for at all.

The whole point of that scene was that the Patriarch did not trust her and she tells him to kill her if he feels that way. She was willing to sacrifice herself for the future of LL.

Then don't have the other pirate lord saying specifically to trust her? That she specifically will be the one to steer them into the future?

Seriously, think it through.

She's just been used to say that the original captain trusts her completely. He only mentions Mistbeard's vanished, and Merl's designated successor didn't get a mention aside from that. Nor did he do anything to prove himself to the Blood Executioners

Imagine what happens if, literally just as they start to turn around to Merl and away from pissing off the kobolds, she goes to the kobolds to make peace with them and winds up dead? The only reason it worked even slightly is Ga Bu, who wasn't supposed to be there in the original plan.

To say nothing of the fact that a guy, who'd already been traumatised by how much killing he'd done, was pressured to shoot her if he wanted peace contract? Like fuck, the guy just recovered from being tempered, and now you want him to kill you in a fit of rage before you've even explained the whole situation? Is that really a good foundation for anything?

It's not a hard fix - just reinforce Merl and Mistbeard both as capable on the Blood Ex ship, don't make her the sole crux of turning the executioners around and then put her life on the line.

Think you're missing the forest for the trees there, chief.

First, why would Merlwyb's second-in-command need to do anything further to prove himself? It's pretty much an open secret around most of Limsa's pirate crews that he was formerly Mistbeard. Yes, the Executioners' Captain put more emphasis in the leadership of Merlwyb than he did make any mention of her second-in-command at all, but if one of the most feared and respected pirates in the land was to be put in charge due to an untimely sacrifice on Merlwyb's part, who besides the most foolish would dare to step up against him? Especially since he's thrown his lot in with the Admiral anyway and would very likely continue her plans, as she trusts him to.

Second, as the Patriarch said, he doesn't trust her. Traumatized as he was by the unnecessary killing of his own people, by his own hands, yes, to shed the blood of "man" who had formerly betrayed his kin as recompense for broken oaths, I doubt he had much problem with that. But that didn't happen. Because he most likely didn't want to risk more open hostilities, and thus, further bloodshed between the kobolds and Lominsans, as he possibly rightly guessed had he chosen to take her life then and there.

But then again, that latter half of what I just said is just as much speculation as the arguments you present. And in the end, what happened, happened, and there does indeed exist a reasonable way as to why it happened and was written as such. You don't always need every facet of storytelling made explicitly clear and expressed to tell a good story. A good story makes you ponder on these what-ifs, and the implications and unsaid details inherent therein.

E9: I fucking hate Crystal Tower story due to Alliance raid, didn't really think the mechs in here were cool. No remix of Hunger for Cloud of Darkness feels like a lost cause.

E10: The heckin doggo which feels like it walked out of Bloodborne. Really cool shadow mechanics, a fucking shell game mechanic, and actually feels cool fitting with the lore of the First. Good stuff excited for Savage

E11: Whoever designed this entire fight, between boss design, arena, mechanics, deserves a fucking award. GNB main so I'm already biased and I love seeing my skills used here in cool ways. This fight is the type of shit I wanted badly in Eden, and it's def a Titan E4 vibe here. I love the fast pace, the music, and the callbacks to the MSQ, they fucking made Ranjit more relevant here then in the goddamn MSQ. Amazing stuff extremely excited for Savage

E12: This fight fucking reeks of Nomura and I want to like it but I'm split halfway down. Someone decided to do an E8like addphase and I'm just floored at how stupid it all is. The Nomura original design for this boss is ugly as fuck, I know it's based on I think Greek myth but man this shit looks so fucking ugly i don't want to stare at it's ugly mug. The Crystals with the primals are very cool and I'm excited to see the mixups they do.

I've been spoiled on Savage for this through social media, and the Savage changes post make me more interested in this fight.

All in all I hated the story for this tier, but it's gonna be a situation where the fights make up for it I feel. E9S I've heard is easier then Ramuh so I'm looking forward to that to get to the more interesting ones.

MSQ was kind of a snooze. Everything was super predictable.

I liked the Emerald Weapon ex trial, although I seem to be of one mind about that. It's fast and furious, but everyone I've talked to hates it. Oh no, my rotation and my tells. What shall I do?

I'm stepping into savage later this week. I haven't looked much at social media, I have a special sort of hatred for XIV-related social media.

Am I the only one who enjoyed everything in the patch?

Everyone: Savage, savage, savage.

Me, a crafter: *opens master recipes, sweats profusely*
the MSQ was a little boring, but i do love merlwyb so that made it a lot better. but the new eden was great and it finished perfectly.
