I cant stand 343's work. They royally fucked over CE in the anniversary collection by ass-ramming the art design with contract and colors, obliterating the feeling of isolation and imposing monumental power of the forerunners that Bungie managed in 2001.
That was Saber Interactive's doing. Granted, it was under 343's management, but a majority of the jank that comes with CEA's design choices are owed to Saber Interactive.

Yeah I was iffy about CEA back when it came out and I've only soured more and more on it since then. H2A is a billion times better (has some of the best design interpretations in the entire series IMO) but still missed subtleties in some areas.
I still think the biggest issue with CEA isn't just the atmosphere-ruining aesthetic changes, but the fact that the remastered graphics just do not match up with the level geometry in a lot of cases, which causes gameplay-affecting issues.

Hitting and shooting at invisible walls is inexcusable.

Also fuck 343 for their character assassination of Halsey. Not only did she have the full support of all the higher-ups, even when the SPARTANs were just to be used to quell the insurrectionist movement, but nobody would be crazy enough to go after the architect of the only thing that kept humanity alive during the Human-Covenant War. Not to say that the actions she took were ethically sound (I can see no way to truly excuse abducting children to conscript them into the military and then experiment on them to create supersoldiers), but everyone knew and signed off on it. The only way 343 could justify throwing her under the bus was by making Halsey into this evil mad scientist persona. Didn't really work for me anyway because she was always confronted by Sarah "Fucking Eggheads" Palmer in the cutscenes, and it's literally impossible to make me hate anyone more than her. No idea if she got worse in 5 or not because I don't have an Xbone, but I've heard that campaign is shit on multiple levels, so I wouldn't doubt it.
It's crazy that they try to use the "but you created them to fight Innies, not the Covenant!" as an argument against Halsey. By the time that she started the SPARTAN-II program, the Insurrection had been going on for over two decades and millions of people had died. It's like 343 didn't bother to check up on the lore and instead thought it was a small scale thing that had started recently. This mindset can pretty much be traced back to Karen Traviss' novels, because that's what started it.

Última edición:
On the topic of books, here's your reminder that 343 Guilty Spark actually survived getting destroyed by the Chief in Halo 3, uploaded himself into a UNSC ship and flew off to find the Librarian.

I don't know the rest of what happens it's most likely even dumber.

Case and point, The canyon walls in AOTCR and Two Betrayals that aren't even close to where they are supposed to be

Well it took several days because I couldn't stand to play more than one or two episodes at a time, but I finally completed spoops on Legendary by myself. God, I am never touching those missions again. The only episode that I actually enjoyed was number 8, and only because pretty much every level had a Wraith I could hijack and make the mission considerably easier. The third missions in the ninth and tenth episodes were also alright. E9C3 was a tank level (minus a chunk in the middle where you're forced to get out, but then you get another Scorpion again), and E10C3 had a team of invincible Spartans to help you out. While they weren't always the best shots, they didn't die quickly like Spartans in other missions, and it was great to have some actual backup for once.

Beyond that, it all blurs together into a big hazy cloud of "kill enemies then push button." Unless you're a completionist or a masochist (possibly both), don't bother with spoops.

I wouldn't even touch Spartan Ops anymore because of how badly Halo 5 shit the bed story wise.

How the Escalation comics utterly wasted that path.

It's mostly the typical sci-fi tropes and some 2deep4u bs, but the earlier lore is fairly decent in most parts. Lately it feels like that's being trashed, and they've pulled shit like killing rookie off in a book. (The guy you play in ODST.)
The ODST from ODST was the Rookie? I thought the protagonist from Reach was the Rookie.

On top of group funnyman Mickey going turncoat and becoming a terrorist Insurrectionist due to being traumatized over watching the Rookie get shot in the head right in front of him.
Don't worry though, as eventually Buck forgave him and the ODST squad got back together. I'm not kidding. Another example of 343's flagrant flip-flopping after their stories get shat on by fans.

I don't know if the matchmaking system is the same on console but on PC it seems to take ages to find people, even in Firefight modes.
Matchmaking should have been adjusted on both console and PC to allow for crossplay and/or filter for what input method the game pairs you with other players (like controller-only, M+KB only, or a mix of both).

I hear it's been very fucky ever since that update was pushed out, though.

I remember trying to do Reach Firefight matchmaking on PC a few months ago and it just refused to work. Not sure if it was just that people weren't playing or my connection got fucked up. Haven't tried it since but I ought to.

But when I tried it on console it got me into games almost instantly. Pretty weird considering I'm fairly sure the game has a bigger population on PC than console at this point.

A softer, gentler, shorter MCC update:
  • Halo 4's out on PC, wrapping up a full year of Halo PC releases. And there was much rejoicing.
  • Not only did 4 come out, but a slew of improvements and fixes that are covered in the launch blog.
  • A bugfix update is planned for mid-December, with targeted fixes including opt-in to text chat filtering (no more swear filter?) and lighting errors on various weapon skins.
  • Another double XP event from December 8th through January 4th, giving double XP for all medals earned during play.
  • Mailbag:
    • More rewards are planned for high-level play, like the weapon skins for Halo 4's ranked playlist or the ODST skins for the Endure challenge last season. These rewards are added on top of the free seasonal content that's much easier to obtain and can be earned at any time.
    • Four-player campaign co-op for Halo 1 and 2 would be nice, but a major technical challenge. As with everything in MCC's development, it has to be weighed against other items that would likely see more widespread use among players. They wouldn't be surprised if modders manage to figure out a way to make it happen, and they believe that modding will keep MCC thriving long after official development has winded down.
    • The Reach armor initially planned for season 4 is definitely coming in season 5. Just needed some extra dev time to get the old assets up to par.
    • Some explanations about crossplay: matchmaking, custom games, Firefight, and Forge all support it, and certain playlists will let you choose to only matchmake with certain devices or input methods. You can't do crossplay in campaign or Spartan Ops due to networking issues. They're still investigating solutions to this problem, but nothing to confirm yet.
    • Machinima controls have been requested before, but they're on the backlog at the moment. Again, needs to be weighed against other features.
    • A note about the text chat changes and how to swap back to the way it was before.
  • State of the game update: no major changes here aside from some items being released with the latest update. Of note, they're hoping to have the custom game browser in flights before the end of the year; and view model adjustments, PC file share, double key binds, and per-game audio options in flights in early 2021. HDR support on PC has been added to the "in design iteration" list.
  • Finally, a closing message heralding the end of the journey of bringing the entire MCC to PC, but development is far from over.
