Imagine how surreal it would have been to read a review of the Xbox 360 back in 2005 where the reviewer rants about George W Bush and the Iraq war, how absurdly out of place that would have been, no one could have even conceived of such a thing back then.

"How could can anyone have fun with the 360 when there is an ILLEGAL WAR FOR OIL GOING ON IN IRAQ!? NO BLOOD FOR OIL! The 360 costs 299.99 US dollars."

It's hard to take sometimes the steep, undeniable decline some things have taken over the last decade, gaming journalism used to be fun, a good guiding hand for what was coming out and what was worth playing, then it was completely ruined, it breaks my heart.

People are absolute fucking retards these days.

I'll take that claim with a grain of salt considering the models so far shown in the screenshots are not much different of the kind you can find in your current average western game with a character creator. Which isn't too surprising considering Demon's Souls remake is made mainly by Bluepoint (Japan Studio has little to no say on the matter). It may be possible to make pretty characters, depending of how much options you have, but it's gonna take time.

There are too many things I do not like about the design changes, especially the monsters and scenery. Might as well just emulate the PS3 game through RPCS3 on PC.

Edit: I'll go as far as saying this new console generation launch is a freaking embarrassment. I do not even understand why there is still console wars shitposting when everyone gets screwed in different ways but I assume consumerism is a hell of a drug

This statement completely shocked me. I totally forgot that era of consoles came out during the Bush administration. To me, those consoles don't seem that old, but they are.

I completely agree with your post though. I miss when gaming news was just news and not politics. I also miss when gaming sites just talked about gaming. There was a period of time when every gaming site tried to branch off into movies, comics, and other shit.

I remember an occasional political dig from back in the day, but the point is it wasn't all of the time and fucking no one would have even thought of trying to shove that shit in when discussing hardware, that would have been fucking nuts.

Today's "gaming journalists" don't give a single solitary shit about video games, they probably fucking hate games and gamers, it's all just yet another outlet for political propaganda, nothing more, yesterday's gaming journalists might have still been left leaning but they still, ya know, actually gave a shit about video games, I mean gaming journalism actually being about video games, what a novel concept.

Shit starting getting retarded in 2012 and it's just never let up since, there's going to come a day when websites like Kotaku literally don't even bother talking about video games and will instead just be political news, they'll get angry if you dare bring up the topic of video games on a video game site.

I was more of an OPM man but I bought the occasional issue of PSM too, both magazines were good, it says it all that there was a time in which you could have no less than two different magazines devoted to just the Playstation and they were both worth reading.

By the end of the 2000s though all the best magazines were dead and then online gaming journalism went to shit not too long after.

The default faces look generally pretty, not quite Disney princess or Final Fantasy looking pretty, but they're squarely within the realms of "this is not a human potato".
