Kotaku PS5 "Review"

Hmm, rampant censorship, a WOKE business model, loose security, newly Commiefornia based, a mic and A.I. system which records your voice and bans you for nebulous "hate-speech"... what's not to Love about the PS5? You should be shamed publicly if you buy a PS5, especially with our current economy.

Global economy did you say? Yeah, even in my country some people gonna use their own vitality funds to buy a PS5.
I'm not joking in this one.

All videogame websites fucking suck because they are riddled with this shit. My go-to used to be Eurogamer but they only really review indie games about trannies now and give them glowing recommedations. The odd time they do review something more mainstream they will drag SJW shit into it without fail.

I don't care for either of the consoles. I just wonder how you justify this term to be anywhere near a rational way to compare raw computation. The card companies seem to only care about these numbers in marketing, too, which makes me believe it's BS all the more.

The first place I actually see this, and it's again, two different terms.

Specs sites don't list this garbage: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1080-vs-Nvidia-RTX-2080/3603vs4026

You think this because you're a consoomer. Go rent a "processing unit" for AI or videos or whatever from Amazon or Google and the specs will be listed in flops and GB. You won't see Hz anywhere.

Stuff like supercomputers were always listed in flops my entire life. It's not a new term.

This is the sort of twaddle we've come to accept as standard from video game journalists, but take a step back and imagine just how absurd this article would seem if it was about literally anything else.

Imagine a car website hiring a journalist who knows nothing about cars or how they work, and gives them a test-drive of a new Mercedes or BMW. Imagine that journalist then writing an article essentially accusing the reader of being a bad person for being interested in buying a high-end car because there are people out there who wouldn't be able to afford it. Imagine reading an article about La-Z-Boy releasing a new line of sofas that suddenly descended into a rant about racial inequality. Game journalists seem to have the luxury of spouting an extraordinary amount of bollocks that would never be accepted from their equivalents in other industries.

For the uninitiated, while 500 bucks is a lot if you're living from paycheck to paycheck; it shouldn't take too long to save up for it. Maybe around four or five months, depending on how many games that you want.

The PS2 is still the only console Sony ever made that's worth talking about

nigga just spend that money on your computer instead of sinking 500 bucks into something that can only be used to consoom vidya
>inb4 muh exclusives
You'll be able to emulate them in 5 years anyway, probably less

I've seen people on Reddit brag about saving up three years to buy a game console. Some people are so shit at impulse control and throw their money at everything unimportant. Even if you are poor, there is no reason it should take that long to buy a console. Just save.

The new consoles genuinely are a great deal for $500 in terms of specs, effectively an underclocked Ryzen 3700x and a Navi 2 GPU, of course the savings are all gonna be destroyed by the $80 per vidya game. I can't for the life of me figure out how bloated their operating system is that they need to dedicate 2 cores to it, probably some data mining spy shit. And as you said you can't do shit outside of consooming.

I think being shit at impulse control is implied if you're a poor person spending 500 dollars on a games console.

Yeah but it's a console, you practically only play vidya on it and watch Netflix, while you can use a computer for work and to actually make stuff.

If Sony stopped being greedy and did another "Linux for PS2" I might actually consider buying it.

So bloated that out of the box, you only have 667gb free on that SSD.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who, despite being 30 is still a massive console fanboy. His justification for getting a next gen console over building a PC was that it's easier to switch to Netflix on a console than it is on a PC.

I was literally like "Nigga wat?"

Fucking Smart TV's have Netflix built in anyways FFS.

Also what fucking exclusives? Spider-Man and Dark Souls remakes?

It is quite sad what has been done to gaming journalism, it really is, it didn't deserve this shit.

I so long for the days in the 2000s when gaming journalism was really quite good, both online and off, then most of the magazines folded and the online sites became overrun with politics and it's now one great big pile of shit.

I remember just how much more fun the culture and climate surrounding video games used to be before the politics showed up.

Imagine being 12 years old and into gaming and being exposed to this garbage.

I remember when gaming mags were full of risqué full page ads and the reviewers were actual computer dorks who knew stuff.

It's like someone submitted a parody of a Kotaku article, and the editors were so oblivious and sheltered they couldn't see the difference. Really though I think he just wanted to fill out the article with irrelevant filler the editors and comments couldn't criticize, otherwise his total combined knowledge of technology and video games would only amount to half a paragraph.

I wonder how far away from we are from a Kotaku article that starts with "Now I've never actually played a video game but-"
