Why the hell does he review things from franchises he either didn't grow up with or isn't a fan and then spend the entire review bitching about how this isn't his thing? He did the exact same thing with the Power Rangers movies.
If you don't like reviewing things you aren't a fan of Doug, then just stick to things you grew up with and like.

Really? Do I need to go through the fucking motions again? I already explained in the face of this autism that Doug shouldn't be a disrespectful shithead when he's such a whore for 80s cartoons, which I like too but can say that they too were also meant to sell toys. At least Pokemon was part of a new cross cultural exchange that told everyone off that animation can be more than shoving it down a cubby hole of one note drama superheroes and slapstick.

In my experiences:
1. They tend to believe that there is an objective taste in entertainment that everyone somehow conforms to or, most prominently, must conform to, ironically, in a country where freedom of expression and choice is prominent, and that it is to be blindly followed and adhered to; I don't even know how it goes in Europe but I know that artsy fartsy film traditionalists out here are a major source of this, and especially Roger Ebert and MST3K,
2. They have extremely shitty acting chops and PR separating an on camera persona from their actual person in real life,
3. There is a conceited and narcissistic want to create a cult of personality around themselves regardless of the consistency of their character to bear influence onto the world and also, make a shitton of money doing this, essentially trying to be charismatic influencers who do nothing but speak their minds and expect to be rewarded for their "wisdom" and the world to be somehow profoundly changed by someone mindlessly ranting about how they don't like a series or kind of entertainment for TL;DR length. This ranges from shallow pandering entertainment personas like Doug to Spoony levels of raving about video games and choking people at E3.
TL;DR it's simple greed and vanity but given the internet for more people to expose themselves with.

There was one christmas nostalgia critic episode where Doug did a skit involving the current him meeting his past self. Here current-doug gets annoyed with past-doug using annoying, unfunny memes like "big lipped alligator moment", "of course", etc. He's definitely self-aware and has been for a while, I remember him making quick jabs at being screechy in a few other nostalgia critic episodes too. I just wish his brother Rob would be half as self-aware as Doug, because I find him extremely annoying in the sibling rivalry series and anything else he shows up in.
He almost always does this though, he takes the middle road so he doesn't piss off his audience too much.

The times he gets me is when he thinks he's more influential than he really us. For example during the "Simon Says" review where our heroes are saved from an explosion by a coke machine he coins the phrase "Frying the Coke" for something that is stupidly awesome and it will overtake "Jumping the Shark" as a thing.
To my knowledge, nobody in the history of ever has used that term because it's stupid.

Lets be honest. Atleast he didn't start it out with the Cliche "OH god man, I REALLLY DON'T WANNA DO IT, Man oh man! But man oh man I just GOTTTAAAAA bite the bullet!!!" kinda shit.
The Wall Review hands down, because its mostly just Doug shitting on the Wall movie without even understanding it, then at the very end he does a "BUT I ACTUALLY KINDA LIKE IT THO!!" shit to negate the entire review. Also they got the lead singer of Slipknot and do fucking NOTHING with him!

Worst Review: The Wall, what everyone says about it applies but it's the songs that get to me as all of them are extremely cringeworthy and horrible song parodies. It got worse when he got that gore-loving furry to animate for him with their OCs. It then gets worse with how Doug lacks any understanding of the wall.
Worst Moment: His incredibly preachy rants in some of his reviews where he pretends he is sticking it to the man which come across as pretentious and gives the impression he thinks of himself as a savior of film (of course he likely doesn't but the preachiness gives that impression).
