why can't 343 do iridescent/pearlescent alien metal when all you need is a fucking cubemap that is a different color than the diffuse? even fucking halo 1 did that fantastically, to a point where people had no clue what color the original fuel rod gun was. gearbox thought it was purple, but it was actually gold with a blue cubemap that gave it a really interesting purplish hue in some lighting, but in normal lighting the gold shows through. here's a picture i took of a grunt today to show what i mean.

and a picture of a plasma rifle from halo 3, note the multiple colors thrown by its reflection. it's not just ONE COLOR.

why the FUCK do the elites and grunts have basic fuckin single color > white highlights armor? looks like plastic. cheap fuckin ABS garbage plastic, the kind with the seams that cut your fingers when you touch it. it'S SO SIMPLE fuck, games from the 90s could do it!

FUCK.

Microsoft doesnt care about console sales, they care about subscriptions to Game Pass and X Cloud. This has been apparent for forever.

This is actually a really good move on Microsofts part for consumers. There really is absolutely no reason to push this out in a rough state for a console that, let's face it, is going to have shortages out the gate because of covid fucking up manufacturing. There will probably be so few consoles out that it will sell out anyways by rabid Xbox fanboys. Normies were not going to buy an XSX for a game that is also launching on both Xbox One and PC, they are buying it because of the Xbox brand at this point.

Better to try and repair the damage to Halo by making the best damn game possible than rushing it out for a console release you honestly don't care much about anyways.

Ironically enough, if you want to see Halsey get absolutely dragged through the mud just read the Karen Travis books (they have flaws of their own though. If you want to see a Mary Sue, look no further than Naomi). A third of that trilogy is just characters walking up to Halsey and telling her how shit she is.
My man, you don't even know.

Lmao, there it is, the nail in XSXs coffin. Playstation is definitely stealing this generation, unless Microsoft can come out with a decent launch title that isn't 3rd party indie shit. Halo was pretty much the driving force for selling the new console generation.
The PS5 reveal wasn't much better lol, most of its launch titles are third party too

I'm more inclined to get a PS5 at launch now because of Demon's Souls. It's not simply a remaster like DSR. It's a full on remake of the game, and I'll admit I'm a fucking sucker for the Soul's franchise. Then again, despite their growth in popularity over the years Souls games are comparatively niche, so who knows. Maybe it's not a selling point for most people. I can say if it weren't for Demon's Souls I'd get an Xbox.

I definitely think Halo not launching with the console will hurt the Xbox Series X, but I'm not sure if it'll be catastrophic enough to doom the entire generation.

The Demon's Souls remake doesn't have a release date. A lot of the games Sony announced aren't launch titles, including probably their most anticipated game, the Horizon sequel. The fact that you're still going to buy a PS5 just because a game you're interested in was announced for it shows how not every game needs to be a day 1 launch title.

Fair enough.

I've been playing the MCC on Steam, while it hasn't been too long since I last played a Halo game, I played the Xbox version of the original back in 2017, but I've not played a new entry in the series since Halo 3 all the way back in 2007.

I started off with Reach, it's good, was pretty wild to finally play a new to me game in this series after so long, felt like reconnecting with an old friend, now I'm playing CE Anniversary for the first time, which while there are a few aesthetic choices that are questionable I guess, for the most part I find it a very big upgrade.

I'm looking forward to replaying Halo 3 especially and finally giving ODST and 4 a try whenever those eventually release, it's also cool as hell to have all these Halo multiplayers available online to me again, I briefly gave Reach multiplayer a try, the first time I've played Halo multiplayer in at least a decade and whoa, it was cool, I'm really looking forward to playing 1, 2 and 3's multiplayer online.

I'm glad Infinite got delayed though as I think it needs work and I would have been too busy with Cyberpunk at the end of the year anyway.

It wouldn't be as big of a deal that Halo will miss launch if Forza made launch.

The problem is that both of them will miss launch.

It also doesn't help that Microsoft didn't fund a third party exclusive like Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome.

Unless they intend to severely undercut the PS5 with pricing, the Series X will likely have a uphill battle against it initially. A bit of a shame really, Sony's been acting like shitheads lately and Microsoft has been making strides to improve their efforts, it would've been nice for the former to get knocked down a peg or two to get them out of their arrogant mindset.

With luck, Infinite and Forza (as well as other games) will be worth the wait to give the Series X a solid first year.

Wait until 343 buckles and removes what is a fuckin visual flair. Can't have nice things.
Black power symbology is a-OK but the police siren is unacceptable, the same people who argued "Lol just ignore it bro you don't have to use it" are going to step up to the plate to denounce a police siren banner. Every time.

Glad they haven't pumped the breaks on info, hopefully that means the game will come out around Spring.
