why can't 343 do iridescent/pearlescent alien metal when all you need is a fucking cubemap that is a different color than the diffuse? even fucking halo 1 did that fantastically, to a point where people had no clue what color the original fuel rod gun was. gearbox thought it was purple, but it was actually gold with a blue cubemap that gave it a really interesting purplish hue in some lighting, but in normal lighting the gold shows through. here's a picture i took of a grunt today to show what i mean.

why the FUCK do the elites and grunts have basic fuckin single color > white highlights armor? looks like plastic. cheap fuckin ABS garbage plastic, the kind with the seams that cut your fingers when you touch it. it'S SO SIMPLE fuck, games from the 90s could do it!
