So much time wasted on Twitter in 2015.
Isn't that like the exact opposite of what happened though? While idiots were screaming in each other's faces over whose toy was better (Ps3 vs Xbox 360), the Wii established itself to be a great console to have around even if you're into different kinds of gaming. It was widely accepted that having the Wii as a secondary console was a great choice, even though it was made fun of for the 'wagglan gaems' from time to time. I certainly do not remember people being outraged over the Wii being successful.
Be that as it may, his last tweet is complete nonsense. Gaming became mainstream exactly through the bro-dude market that picked up (console) gaming through the XBox and PS2 era and culminated in a huge market with the PS3 and XBox 360. And that did indeed happen through games like Halo and Call of Duty.
The Wii opened up some other markets, can't deny that, but gaming got mainstream through different means.
And since when are people playing games on smartphones considered 'mainstream gamers'? Last I checked, those were casual gamers. Yeah, the market is huge, but there's a difference between a guy who plays angry birds while waiting for the bus and a guy who's playing Dota all day long.
