For 12 year old girls, yeah, the ‘tumblr/YouTube/peers social contagion’ theory makes sense. For an adult woman? I am sick and tired of this ‘20 something women are babies with no agency and can’t be accountable for their behavior because society’ thing. It’s ridiculous. I see all these posts from detransitioners who transitioned as adults where they do nothing but blame, blame, blame, and this is FTM and MTF, and it’s exhausting.

I actually agree with you on this and I didn't mean to imply otherwise -- of course young women are adults who are fully responsible for their own actions and to suggest otherwise is infantilizing and anti-feminist. I have no doubt a lot of the mentally unstable trender FtMs would probably find another way to destroy their lives while gaining oppression points (eg. HAES girlcows). I was speaking to the issue posed by the post about the therapist who flat-out suggested that her patient was trans just because she found motherhood unappealing, which I think is a totally different issue from the social contagion stuff. Whether a patient is male or female, therapists should never be so irresponsible as to make tantalizingly destructive suggestions to nut-jobs looking to a """medical professional""" for *the answer* to all their problems. Imo, that's some borderline malpractice shit. I've seen way more examples of FtMs (including, yes, some whiney, why-me detransitioners) vs. MtFs talking about how therapy was the gateway to trooning out, but sure, that's anecdotal, who knows. Doesn't mean the troons aren't still responsible for fucking themselves up, both can be true at once.

We've come from 'mental disease should be discussable' (70s-80s) through '(no) mental disease should keep people from being hired' (80s-90s) all the way to 'not having a collection of mental illnesses makes you privileged and boring'.

Note, though, that most of those tag diseases are self-diagnosed and if they are officially diagnosed, it's because the sufferer has shopped therapists until they got precisely the things they wanted.

Many of the typically listed ailments are vaguely defined or impossible to objectively determine; some are outright fictional. You'll never see someone state "I suffer from fits where all goes red before my eyes and I beat my children up". Strange that.

I'm not a lesbian but I enjoy well written/drawn yuri here and there. But I usually stay away from reddit and (mainly english speaking) social media that shares it. Since those places are overrun by exactly the demographic you just mentioned combined with a ton of SJWs and pseudo-inclusiveness.

I also love finding trans!(character) fanfics under the yuri-tags. Especially if the characters have absolutely 0 problems with their identity and just a dick. But let's grab some woke-points instead of just putting it under the futanari-tag, I guess.

there’s still a lot of fantastic yuri series out there, written by other women and some also by men. if you’re using reddit to find yuri shit though you might as well kill yourself. the comments section of any given upload on dynasty scans, which is largely dedicated to yuri, is about the same quality (they even tag most series featuring crossdressing as “transgender” now iirc) but at least you actually have to go out of your way to look at it when reading anything that isn’t a single image upload.
