Doubleposting but this'll bump the thread. Over in >>Arts & Literature in the YABookgate thread somebody linked to Fanlore so I decided to look up "The Conversion Bureau." This matters because I knew JDR had written a buttload of MLP FIM stories and they were controversial within the fandom. So whatever.

tl;dr the stories are misanthropic and full of crapsack world. I've never read any of them but apparently these stories were too sad for the fandom of a children's TV show designed to sell toys. (80s MLP best MLP. I will fight you IRL at this... at Nintendo.)
OK, it links to JDR's Fanfiction.net page. What do we see there?

OK, a little bio. The art seems . . .
off, but we're all familiar with JDR's artstyle by this point so of course it's going to be weird. JDR is like 60 something so most women her age would be watching it with their grandchildren

So we go down the page.

The word choice makes sense if you accept that JDR is autistic, and move on. Fine, autistic transsexuals, what else is new? But look at that goddamn word count. JDR could have written several novels and actually made money off of them. I am aware that JDR has issued collections of webcomics, but I honestly don't know how much money JDR would or has ever made off of it? If you've read Unicorn Jelly or Pastel Defender Heliotrope, you would be pissed and want your time back even though you read them for free.
I used to be a huge fan of Kisake (a computerized paper doll program) and the Otaku World website, and when I heard that one of the head honchos, Jennifer Diane Reitz, was coming out with a comic, I was interested. I really wanted to like it, but it came off too much of a cutesy anime wanna-be...

I started reading this comic years ago, around the time it began. Why? Well, back then I was drawn to its cutesy art style. It's just.. So unassuming and sucks you in like a sand trap. I didn't know who this J.D.R. was, until I found out the 'dirt' behind this chick and oooooh lord is it all...

I'm sure it's been brought up here before (it better have been) but Unicorn Jelly is about a cute slime who, over the course of the story, gets vivisected by an immortal autistic goddess to make every slime like it up against a corrupt church, and Pastel Defender Heliotrope is about a sentient sex doll that ... creates new universes, or something? Fuck if I actually know what it's about. The point is, these things were made by an insane troon who's still writing shitty MLP FIM fanfics. It's not like HP Lovecraft and his nigger poem, since we all know HPL was a crazy bastard; it's not like how David Dees (RIP) slowly went from Muppet art to the best insane conspiracy artwork, this is a franchise for children... oh hell like that stopped anyone. Harlan Ellison supposedly got fired from Disney for going on and on about making a pornographic short featuring Minnie, but with Ellison, that's exactly what you'd expect from him.
To conclude: JDR is crazy and the craziness just keeps intensifying. Mods merge my posts since I am a proud doubleposter.
