I think they want to forget that Halo 5 happened.

There are only so many things they can do with yet another stupid AI uprising plot. After setting up the Didact and Jul as major villains in Halo 4, they shitcanned the Didact in a comic and killed off Jul right at the beginning of Halo 5, just so they could pivot to Cortana being the series' new antagonist. It was one of the dumbest things I'd ever seen. It made Halo 4 feel completely pointless.

My prediction: Infinite will be the best of the 343 games. Now whether or not it’s on the same level of the bungee games is a different matter entirely

A fairly solid prediction. As of Halo Wars 2, there has been a bit of a return to the series' old aesthetic, after so many people complained about the way Halo 4/5 looked and the way they were written.

I think the glitz of seeing Master Chief's classic Mk. VI armor design in a completely new engine could be enough to give Infinite some nostalgia cred upfront.

Not only that but they pushed aside the characters that they introduced in Halo 4, like Lasky and the crew of the Infinity. I know the writing of Spartan Palmer wasn't that great but they could have toned it down and still have her and Lasky as the Chief's new friends.
Maybe I'm the only person who wanted this but I wish this trilogy would have been about the Chief's new journey, from accepting the loss of his 3D holo gf to making new friends on the Infinity. He would learn to become more human and less autistic.
The problem with 343 is that they have no vision outside of Bonnie Ross' diversity agenda.

The only gut-punches Reach deaths gave me are when Jorge and Sev Emile died. Jorge had actual personality and depth to him, and Emile... everything about that dude screeched he was a cheap knockoff of Sev, and with less personality, and we all knew he was going to die when he mounted that turret. At least he managed to take some guys with him despite being ambushed. Kat was just an annoying exposition lady, the guy who blew up the Forerunner place was all "Wait, really? He's just dead like that?" and the boss man well... it was obvious he was gonna kamikaze at some point when he got shot up in that mission's intro cinematic.

Jun actually survived Reach (Despite not even being present in the First Strike novel)

That's because Reach retconned books 1,3, and 4. Bungie had even put out a statement about how game canon overwrites any contradictory book canon.

Even then Jun was a Spartan 3 and those weren't even mentioned until the book after First Strike.

Didn't see this posted yet but this looks like it'll be the marine design for Infinite. Looks really good in my opinion, alot like the Halo Wars marines. It's for some Halo 5 thing but they said it was done by the Infinite art team and they look like the marines in the initial Infinite trailer.

Pretty slick. I like the goggles, it almost makes them look like mini-Spartans. I haven't been paying too much attention to the marketing, but that looks like the Mark VI Mjolnir. Are they going back to the pre-Halo 4 Mjolnirs?

It's supposedly a new armor, just looks much more in line with old Bungie era armor.

I really dig the cross aesthetic of both Halo Reach and Halo Wars. My default armor in Reach is basically recreating the Military Police units.

And this is why I despise Halo lore.

That and I'm not a science fiction fan.

Thank god if true, the marines in 4 looked like dog shit.

I'm not really all that opposed to the art style changes as a whole, and even I hated how the marines were depicted.

The early pre-Traviss books were excellent, with complexity and unexpected nuance to matters, and a far better fall of Reach than what we got in the game. Even had a crazy admiral who was a Hungarian Texan who was planning on sitting on a planet-cracking nuke until it took out Reach and the Covenant garrison with a shit-eating grin like Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove.

So according to a recent interview the reason 343 never contacted Marty O'donnell for any of their soundtracks is because Microsoft told them they aren't allowed to talk to Marty for some weird legal reason. That's fucking dumb.

Kinda hopeful that Halo Infinite's music will actually be decent. Curtis Schweitzer seems to know what he is doing given what's shown from the trailer. The only other composer that made any good music for Halo that wasn't Marty was Stephen Rippy. Almost none of the music from Halo 4 and 5 were leaving a good impression on me.

Went through Halo Wars on Heroic recently for old time's sake, forgotten how schizophrenic the difficulty could be.

Tempted to go through 2 again, but the thought of having to deal with that damned cleansing beam makes me queasy.

Halo 3 for PC comes out Julay 14th. This update should come with a fix for reach's sound issues
In addition, they'll be adding stability improvements, new Forge objects, and a new skull for both Xbox and PC versions.

The skull, Acrophobia, is basically a jet pack when you hold the jump button down and move in any direction.
