What did you think of Infinite after the campaign showcase?

Halo 5 was too ambitious. Warzone (I think the PvEvP mode) was a good concept but was ruined by the REQ system. Particularly by paying for it.

You couldn't earn cosmetics, you had RNG or buy them. However, its gunplay and traversal system was solid if steep learning curve. Mantling took some getting used to.

No split screen (I never used it, but I understand the anger with its omission) and terrible plot ruined it. It was better than Halo 4, but it tried to do too much.

The free DLC was an added bonus.
 
Went back and played a bit more of Halo 1. The 3rd level, The Truth and Reconciliation, is so much better than the previous level. It also helps that I realized how to properly use the grenades. So far, it seems as though the game's at its best when it's being more of a corridor shooter than the wide open space of the previous level (I kept getting blindsighted in that level, which also made it more frustrating).

When you get to it, tell us what you think of The Silent Cartographer, that’s considered one of the best levels in the game and it’s quite open.

Just completed it. It was fine. First part with the Warthog reminded me why I hate the damn thing. I think I just keep using it wrong because I always end up crashing and getting swarmed by enemies. Beyond that, your AI partners take so long to aim and fire, which is why I end up driving past firefights. Plus driving around always make me feel like an idiot because I keep going the exact wrong way (which happened to me all the damn time in the second level). Once you enter the structures though it gets better, and I kinda liked having to escape. So I guess the level's symbolic of what I like and don't like about this game. The Warthog is annoying but the smaller more linear structures have far better firefights.

I've played Halo for so long, it's nice to get a fresh pair of eyes on some of the game's aspects. Yeah, the AI does take a long time to do anything when you're all on the Hog, I typically just park it and use them as a turret, then attack from a different position. While I do enjoy the open levels a lot more than the corridors, you'll be pleased with the corridor sections of the later levels, as they're a lot more fleshed out and have a few more enemy/ weapon types to play with.

Better than 4, but Halo shouldn't play like an e-sports shooter and the gun balance design was questionable at best. This only applies to the multiplayer, as well, the gameplay in the campaign was horrendous.
 
Halo 4 tried to be Call of Duty. A bit too much.

It was decent fun but the playerbase did not last long compared to 3 or Reach.

The perk system overcomplicated things. Maybe it's me, but Halo 4 was "faster" compared to Halo 3 or Reach. Like frantic run and gun.

I'm glad Sprint was default. Spartan Ops was better than the campaign.

The Prometheans were ... Dull. Aside from the two shot sniper rifle, their weapons did not pack a punch.

I say it was okay.

Silent Cartographer is the closest thing of what Halo seemed to be at the initial reveal and while it has a trivial flow/feel for people now there was a sense of adventure on that level when the game first came out. It had the potential of being a shooty Zelda with an overworld and dungeons. Man, that was a good level.
 
Halo 2 is the peak of the series. I still play almost everyday Because halo is my comfort food at this point. I kinda like it I guess.
 
I got MCC on Steam on launch day but I forgot about how much I hated Reach's gameplay, and how lazy Bungie was with the maps with all those shitty Forge created maps, until then I had to wait it out until Halo 2 came out since that was my favorite title of the series. Even though I didn't play the game at launch I still encountered a bug where the game outright disconnected my internet after an hour of gameplay (fixed it by setting the FPS to 60). Outside of that, the game's as good as I remember. Really looking forward for Halo 3.

I've always hated the maps made with Forge World, the sandbox was huge with a lot of cool places but every map had the same depressing dark grey forerunner prefabs.
I like what 343 did with Forge in Halo 5, lots of objects, customization, effects, etc. It would be interesting if they manage to add AI to Forge in Halo Infinite.
 
I never used Forge too much. Custom servers would've been nice at the time.

Am I the only one who doesn't care for Two Betrayals? For me, it has the same problems as Assault on the Control Room: drags out too little for too long, railroads you into tight-quarter slugfests and repetitive objectives. At least Assault let you use the Scorpion...

I actually prefer TB for the night time atmosphere, the battles between the Covenant and the Flood, and using Banshees.

AOTCR is fine and all, but it drags on longer than it should and the indoor fights feel pretty samey.
