I liked the LPPF angle Vic's team went with. Arguably, Vic's rumor panels could make him an limited public figure... but those were never entered into evidence. The only public insertions made (his denial tweets, his BakAnime apology) were made after the allegations started, and responding to defamation does not a public figure make. Slick.

So the line about the "prima facie case for each cause of action" being able to be proven "solely with the evidence filed by Toye and Rial" that Dunford was claiming was some completely out of nowhere claim was utter nonsense. It was, in fact, a direct response to a claim in Rial and Toye's response, as not taking it completely out of context would have shown.

The implications of this kind of argument is everyone is a limited purpose public figure. All you have to do is just call them a pedophile. Now their pedophilia is a matter of public interest, whether true or not, if they don't deny it, and if they do, then they've "inserted themselves" into the controversy, regardless of whether they were actually dragged kicking and screaming into it.
