Amber's way of navigating the world has always been to seek attention and get others to do things for her. Regardless of what the explicit topic of a video is, it's a tool for attention. She never had any interest in following through with weight loss and past medical visits because she had already gotten what she was actually looking for through the video (attention). The ambabies who always get upset at her lack of follow-through are making the mistake of taking her words literally. Furthermore our gorl's not interested in any kind of introspective or deep thinking, it's irrelevant to how she lives her life, as a result she's had no practice using analytical and problem solving skills. She's also impulsive, the constant eating might be the drug that acts as a buffer to the negative effects her dysfunctional way of living is causing her. Amber's never received any kind of therapy for these issues, as a matter of fact therapists are just another topic she brings up for views - she never took it seriously.
The real danger of the cancer diagnosis is that she'll keep going with the pattern. The big C is a powerful tool to put in the hands of an attention-seeker. There will be a huge pull for her to act as usual, as per the pattern. If she continues making superficial videos but doesn't follow through and take the implementation seriously, she's toast. For her to properly book appointments, follow instructions, budget the costs, seriously and diligently implement the pre-surgery diet... these behaviors would all be world firsts for her. There would also need to be no impulsivity, no running to food as usual. For someone who was less dysfunctional, I could see cancer being the wake-up call. But Amber's personality is very warped, I don't see any tools or strengths within her that she could use to bring herself on the correct path. She also has no insight on her own mind and personal issues, she only recognizes "psychologist" as a word people bring up and have interest in. I don't expect she'll seriously consult a therapist and commit to introspection and change, that would be a world first as well, she doesn't have it in her. Her immediate environment doesn't have anyone who truly cares about her or acts in a mature way, to compensate for the internal deficiencies. Cancer saga is looking pretty dark, and it will be televised - it's her only source of revenue.
