I'm not sure Dobby has any real musical taste since it seemed to be mostly songs from soundtracks. (There was also a song called "Isometric Podcast Theme" which I haven't heard of but it turns out is a song that compares Brianna Wu to Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle so that figures)

Dobby does strike me as one of those nerds who only listens to video game music and not much else beyond that.

I've always been mystified by those people. It always seems so limiting, like they're afraid to go outside of their comfort zones and try new things.

I guess that sums up Dobby perfectly though, doesn't it?

"afraid to go outside of their comfort zones and try new things" is basically Dobson in a nutshell

I think I vaguely remember him complaining about being a janitor and his co-workers either slacking or being loud or something. Not 100% sure though, and he might have gotten fired / quit that job at some point.

Dobson could have George Jetson's job and still find something to complain about. "Do you know how hard it was to push this button today!?"

Dobson, you want to work on animation, why not follow an animation guide from motherfucking animation powerhouse Disney?
Oh bloo bloo da trawls sent me useful advice that could further my career.
After reading this thread I sent Dobby that Disney animation tip sheet @Jared posted and told him to compare it with his Patreon video, unsurprisingly he did not take the criticism well:

Hahahaha Jesussssss I wasn't expecting Dobson to react *that* poorly to it. Hell, that thing's been around for a very long time, I'm kind of surprised he hasn't seen it before. I pulled it off an old torrent for WDC&S years ago and have been posting it all over the web ever since. I know a bunch of goons put it on a comic tip website a few years ago, but I can't find it anymore. Here's the whole thing in a gallery:
It wasn't an animation sheet, it's actually a comic artists' tip sheet. Though of course everything in it applies to animation just as well (and it's striking how much Dobson's animation matches the "wooden" example image)

See, here's the thing. I used to be a fucking terrible artist, I'd make Dobby look like an old master. I wanted to draw comics, but I sucked and wasn't really picking up much (too much anime imo - just like Dobson!). But I read a ton of old Disney comics and found this, and it's been really helpful to me ever since. Really helps to have people point out things that can make you better at drawing?? no wayyyyy

Gotta love the irony here.

"I wanna work at disney"
*someone shows him a guide to dynamic drawing/ect from disney themselves*
*Dobbers throws a tantrum*

That DOES look pretty amazing though, the tip sheets anyway. There any more of those things lying around? Not a comic artist but I probably should try that low horizon anyway...

I posted one for King of the Hill a few pages back. There's several available online and commercially. I'm no artist, but I find the guides and how to absolutely fascinating. There's so much that goes into good comic and animation artwork.

Última edición:
I really love how even when he tries to make you look awful, he couldn't fully cut out the fact you were trying to help.

As an aside, thanks for the panels. I've done a few "comics" over the years, and I've messed several of these up. Really neat to see.

If Dobson does have a job, then it would mean he's finally learned to not bitch about it online. Since he is incapable of this sort of introspection, I think it's a safe assumption that he's unemployed.

God, those people really annoy me. "My favorite Music is Epic Video Game Music".

I'd love to see a professional artist try to criticize good ol' Dobby and see how he takes one of his heroes taking a piss on his shitty comics. Even then Dobby would bitch and moan about how the other guy is full of shit, how he's a hater, and how he doesn't need criticism.

I seem to recall something akin to that happened at some point in his life. It's why he has such entitlement issues and sobs at critticism.

If Dobson does have a job, then it would mean he's finally learned to not bitch about it online. Since he is incapable of this sort of introspection, I think it's a safe assumption that he's unemployed.

From what I've recently heard, his mother works in publishing, and either just that alone or combined with the city she lives in, means she's upper-middle class-upper class, and he lives with her. I can't prove this, but it wouldn't surprise me.

So if true my theory is that he broke up with his "girlfriend" at some point(awful personality was likely the reason. Whatever the case it's highly unlikely he's still with this chick, if he ever was), lost his job (probably due to laziness and his awful personality), then convinced his wealthy mom to let him back in, probably convincing her that he was wrongfully fired and that he couldn't get another job (when most likely, he was entirely to blame for being fired and hasn't gotten another job due to laziness), and has been living there since.

Why do you think he never talks about his personal life? He doesn't want anyone to know he's unemployed, lonely, and living off his mommy, who's probably given up on him a long time ago.

Then again, as I recall, he was, a few months back, bragging about having a job as a freelancer wasn't he? I think he claimed he did an extremely unrealistic amount of commission work in a very short amount of time, which put a dent in the credibility of this "job" actually existing. He also wouldn't show any of his freelance work I think I recall. He was probably lying about that job, or grossly exaggerating what it really was, for e-cred.

If I didn't think the Steven Universe team was being flooded with applications, I'd like them to give a critique.
"Thanks for your application. Unfortunately there are too many fundamental errors present in your portfolio for us to accept you at this time. If your high school offers it, we recommend you take an art class to refine your skills. Once you graduate, consider art school to have a better chance in the field of animation."
