Lord help us if the SU fandom ever actually watch Monty Python if they're getting so butthurt about Uncle Grandpa being in a dress!

Yes. Yes they are. Because feminine-looking creatures shouldn't have breasts or thin waists or look attractive or have different shaped hair or BY THE WAY isn't Garnet mostly considered 'black' because she has an afro? And don't say she's not because if they're complaining about 'white-washing' it has to be that.

Didn't the artist explain that the lighting in the scene with all the gems brightly glowing made it look like that, and they just wanted to draw her hair in a different way? Honestly, it's all the racism towards the artist (who is Japanese, some people call him a "Westaboo" because he likes Western cartoons a lot) that is the worst thing here. Guess he knows which fandom he's not going to draw for again.

Frankly, I can't tell, because tumblr is dumb.

But that's part of it, isn't it? Tumblr will yell the same thing a million times because it's hard to find out if the artist has reacted to the reaction and all.

Thing is, that's a fanart of an April Fool's Day pic someone posted that had tumblr flipping their shit over even more.

Also, for their context of "why did they draw them so skinny!111!"Japan has less than 4% of their population as clinically obese, compared to 32% of Americans. Less than a quarter of the population is even overweight, compared to over half in the US. Just saying.

I posted about this before. They're still complaining about it?

Well, it finally filtered down to my strata of tumblr. I guess we're a few dozen reblogs distant from the latest gossip. (This thread jumped 15 pages while I wasn't looking.)

What's their problem with that one? Her skin isn't white in that pic.

Slightly off topic but THIS is exactly what happened when the first few episodes of the new Sailor moon anime were shown (and I guess they still complain). Suddenly the characters were to skinny, the legs were too long, their skin was to white. Despite the old anime being exact the same way. Despite the fact that japan has a different idea when it comes to beauty than the US.

They're sexy, animu, and into Steven. It's a parody of harem serieses. [Steven also isn't fat.]

The old show had poorer quality that made the colors look more faded and the art was not as detailed, so it wasn't as obvious.

Garnet's voice actress is also black. That plays into it quite a bit.

They should make an episode of Sven Universe where some overactive fangirl tries to make the crew act according to her headcanon or something.
all this would lead to an aseop about "People shouldn't take things so seriously and things you like aren't always about you".
imagine the backlash this would cause :ween:

That's pretty close to the lesson at the end of the crossover, actually. But that all flew over their heads because a man wore a dress.*sigh*

Is it because she has an afro and is stoic yet sassy? Wow.
I think it is because she is dark skinned and has a black VA.

I'm pretty sure all this SJW backlash takes a backseat to the fact that the majority of the episodes of Steven Universe were made before the show had a SJW fandom and the Crewniverse just predicted the future because they've worked on shows before and fandoms tend to be filled with shitters at the forefront.

I also think that the UG/SU crossover should have been kept a secret.

Sad that you can't drew characters how you like without being attacked for it. People draw famous characters as black quite often. (especially those with different actors like Doctor Who or James Bond) Not to mention all the gender swapped characters out there.

But apparently drawing any black character as white is horrendous because you're erasing 'muh representation'. As though they were unaware they could do good things without fictional characters of the same race showing them.
