Just recently, Cracked ran a new article titled "5 Ugly Realities Being a Woman in Gaming Industry".
The very first representative they cited as a source was Brianna Wu, of all people.

If you associate Brianna Wu with anything you want taken seriously, you are a potato. Cracked has gone full SJW and basically become a parody of itself.

Seriously, if I wanted to discredit something and Wu had anything to do with it, I'd just hold up a picture of Wu. "This is Brianna Wu." And automatically win the argument because Wu. It's like being a furry. By definition you can't win an argument with Wu on your side.

For the uninitiated, Wu tried to get a Pro-GG shitposting Transwoman (essentially a Twitter-fied Jon-Nyan) suspended for posing with a rifle as part of a joke. The motion failed, but no sooner than she started it that Sophia Banks (or as we jokingly call her, Transexual Jay), started attacking said shitposter, and, apropos of nothing, claiming she had raped and assaulted people. Banks harassed this individual for fucking days, before starting a fight with, of all people, Randi Harper. This led to an even bigger schism as people factionized behind two of the "big names" in the anti camp. Ultimately, Sophia Banks was suspended. Countless people abandoned the anti camp over this - and it's all thanks to Wu!

This is hilarious. I don't even care that the media has blindly embraced the "female game developer harassed by misogynist cyberterrorists" narrative because things can only get more ridiculous and disastrous the more Wu is given a platform. The GG crowd keeps repeating how it's all about corruption in gaming journalism and NOT about attacking women, yet one look at #gamergate shows that's basically all they are talking about. The "other side" is equally retarded and seemingly led by a bunch of attention whores (a few of them being called out for past behaviour, eg. statements ranging from racism to flat out insanity) that jumped the bandwagon just in time.

Take the latest controversy regarding Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity. You know, the one with the supposedly anti-trans joke. Which led me to do my best Picard facepalm impression yet, because of the sheer stupidity. Politcial correctness became a bizarre joke quite a while ago. And now we have internet lunatics that prove, you can always elevate stupidity to new hights.

Oh, how i wish it would go all away and make room for a little bit more reason in this world. Just think what our ancestors would say, if they could witness what we did with what they gave us with the Renaissance.

realities of a life as a woman, they quickly changed the title to
"5 Ways The Gaming Industry Is Way More Sexist Than You
Think" (though you can still see the old title in the url).
White Knights started to go into a frenzy too, downvoting everyone being critical, even those people who stated that
the issue of women's rights is an important one, but felt that
Brianna Wu is not the best choice as a representative. Go

I really am a professional software developer. I often have *NO CLUE* what's going on on the laptops or desktops I use for development, because there's so many abstraction layers upon abstraction layers upon abstraction layers, all built by smart people so that I don't need to know anything about transistors.

And it's not as if all developers agree about what's best to use. I've done quite a bit of successful freelancing with a $300 Windows machine.

(And Yosemite is a mess, too. Those of us with Macbooks been officially told not to upgrade to it.)
